HAF 932 fan filters ?

I made myself up a couple of filters for the HAF 932 case, just for the two intake fans, the one at the front and the giant one on the side of the case.

The case has all the standard fans that come with it.

what i done was use a pair of ladies fine/sheer tights and covered the side panel from the outside and something similar on the front.

The idle temps have only rised like 4c or 5 degrees for northbridge and about 2 degrees for the cpu.

I have the cpu clocked, its an i7 920 @ 4GHz, temps are pretty good i think, on idle the northbridge now is 66c, cpu is 28c and motherboard is 40c, but as I say, they are a few degrees cooler without my diy filters, actually i am watching a tv programme on the pc just now, so its not totally idle, a little bit of stress i guess from watching the tv programme, so the normal idle temps with nothing running are a bit cooler than these i quote.

What i am wondering is, I see these magnetic mesh filters for sale, they are expensive, but i was wondering if these have much less impact on the temps than my man made filters, these are the ones I am talking about >> DEMCiflex Magnetic Filter - Custom 4 Piece Set for HAF932

has anyone used these ?

are they any good ?

would they still cause the temps to rise to similar levels like ive just described or are they much better and cooler ?

Even though these mesh magnetic kits come with 4 filters I would only use the important ones just like i am doing now, the intake fan at the front and the giant one on the side panel, i wouldnt use the other 2 filters.

Thats my questions for you guys, hope someone can help as i dont fancy buying this kit of filters if they are waste of money and the man made fix is exactly just as good ?

Thanks guys :)

I had my fans wrapped in tights too, kept the dust out and didn't really increase the temps until they got 'full' (about 3 days in this house!)

What I did (as I wasn't fond of having a layer of 'filter' both front and back of the fan) I stuffed the fan down into the toe, pulled it tight and joined a couple of zip-ties together and wrapped them around the whole perimeter of the fan to hold it there, then cut the inside material off - thus creating a single layer of filter with free-flowing air from the inside of the fan :)

I took them off because it dimmed the light from the fan LEDs, but the ammount of dust clogging my TRUE is ridiculous now, will be doing it again when I've got chance!

Any filter will impede airflow a little bit, especially when it gets a bit of dust covering it... but if the dust is in the filter, its not in your cpu cooler - and it's easier to get rid of ;)

Personally, I'd stick with the tights :) can't see there being much difference in performance if I'm honest

does anyone have or had these magnetic mesh filters for the HAF 932 that I am on about, just wanting to see if anyone has them and what they think of them ?

i ended up moving my DIY tights filter, lol a little bit on the big side panel fan, i had the material covering all those holes on the side, so what i done was just had it covering the actual fan area from the outside, i have the material stuck on with blueTac so its a 1 minute job, and now theres more air getting in the area all around the parts that surround the fan and instantly the temps dropped down by a few degrees, so that was pretty good :)

but the tights are already getting very dusty and thats just a few days in a very clean house, amazing isnt it ?

Still hoping that someone who has bought the magnetic mesh filters that i mention in 1st post can let me know how they find them as I wouldnt like to spend £50 (uk pounds) on them and they knock the temps away up and then i dont use them, so anyone thats got these special filters please post up and let me know.

cheers guys :)

Yeah I've got a set of Demciflex filters on my 932 and only got a couple of degrees rise in temps, nothing drastic at all. But they have aided my war on dust I seem to have been hosting in my 932. They are a lot more convenient but I do think they are expensive for what you end up with.

so they are good then mate ? and easy to use from the outside of the case ? I.E - stick on with magnets and when they need cleaned you just run them under the water in the sink ?
and how often ?

thanks mate.

No need to rinse under the tap just dust em off with your hand, unless they get real bad then you can. Quick swipe of the hand and they're clean usually. And just once a week is fine for me (depends how much dust you get though so this varies I suppose).
And yeah they stick to the outside of the case with magnets, the main one you see is the side one and that doesn't stick out a mile that its there. Fit really well over the obvious grills on the HAF too. And the magnets seem to offer the right amount of force to keep them nice and snug on the Case all the time too (Not had one fall off yet).
And yep they do the trick, cut down the amount of dust getting in my case a great deal (Barely get any now).
But I still think they are expensive for what they are, but they have saved me a ton of hassle with dust too. So pluses all around apart from the price tag.

LMAO:D

The case and case fans must be in a constant state of eroticism hence the increase in temps:D.

Who can blame them surrounded by the ladies tights:p.

They must be thanking the 'owners' for wrapping tights around them!!:p

seriously though mate, these HAF 932's get very dusty very quickly inside and i'm sick of cleaning it.

I found a website selling an electric dusterbuster, its like a very powerfull can of compressed air except its electric and you can use it forever, i posted it up in a thread on this very website last night but the mods or admin have removed it for some reason i dont know why, can any mods or admins tell me why i cant post it up, its a very handy little device ????

Thanks.

OcUK sell cans of air - there's the answer ;)

Can't be linking to anything similar/better sold elsewhere - it's just not good form, my boy

ok got the mesh filters today, cleaned all the inside of my pc out very thoroughly, done the lot so everything was squeeky clean, then applied the mesh filters to the outside parts where they are meant to go, I just have the side panel and front panel filters as they are the only air intake areas.

But, to be honest, I have not really gained much tempreature wise (or lose much I should say) compared to using the ladies tights, All I can say is that what I have gained is that these are so so simple just to flick off and clean they are amazing, so thats a massive plus point, plus the fact I should now in theory at least have litrally no dust getting into the computer :)

So overall, I guess For the few extra degrees in heat they create they are worth it, plus remember, order them direct from the manufacturer in africa and you can actually choose which of the filters you need, you dont need to buy the full kit, I got the side filter and front filter including postage with tracking for just over £19 (uk pounds), the manufacturers website says they dont sell direct to the public but they do, and even if you want a special custom size made up you can just tell them the exact size required and they will make it for you, brilliant :)

Can you advise which ones are required for the HAF 932 case inlet filters only.

I'm away from home at the moment and would like to order them.

If its the standard fans you have on the HAF932, thats the big side panel one, the front one where the case glows red colour, the top one and the one on the back, then all you need is like I got, the front one is an air intake fan and the side panel one is an air intake fan, both the top and back are air output fans.

I am also thinking about fitting an air intake fan directly on the bottom of the inside of the case, it has the holes already there for nice cool air to come in, so it can only make things better, but I might get a mesh filter for that too if I do fit it, something you can think about too mate if your always looking at tempreatures the way I do, lol, I am a tempreature addict, lol.;)

Been on the site to order but the standard sizes won't be big enough so it looks like custom.

Can you advise the sizes you got for the two intake fans and for the proposed bottom intake fan?

Cheers.

mate, they are perfect size, just email DEMCiflex directly, it says on thier site that they dont sell to the public but they do, I only emailed them to find out which outlets they had in the uk to sell me the filters and they emailed me back and says "we will sell directly to you", and that was that.

If you have the HAF 932, you just tell them you need the front and side air intake mesh filters for that case and ask them to send you via email the paypal pay invoice and thats it, trust me mate, you need to pay by paypal though I think, although maybe you can pay by credit card, I didnt ask as I have a paypal account, paypal is always the best and safest way to send and receive money anyways.;)

I cant think why you would say they wouldnt fit, do you realise that you simply pop off the lower part of the front of the plastic part of the front of the case and that exposes the holes and the fan at the front, you dont put the mesh filter right over the whole thing on the outside at the front if thats what your thinking, the front lower plastic part simply unclips, give it a few hard pulls and you will see it come off.
