Hi All

I am making a new thread asking this question, and I dont want to look through the offical one and spot any spoilers.

I have encountered three different bugs with the game that keep on happening. One is when my character almost disconnects himself from the controls of the game. The mouse still moves the camera and ESC works, but he is disconnected.

Another is the minimap keeps on not displaying, or the display freezes and stops working until I view the main map again.

The last is the game completely freezing and forcing me to CTRL+ALT+DEL out.

Anyone else has these issues? I am using latest drivers and I have a retail copy.

Humm...I am glad to see that I am now alone in some issues then. I was beginning to think my game had really mucked up. The control one sucks as I am always forced to go back to the previous save game, as if I save and restart the bug still exists! :(

The 1st bug may be because you pressed R a bit to long, i.e. the game is waiting for you to aim a throwing knife or bomb. Happened to me once fighting Kayren and I worked out i could replicate the disconnect by getting stuck in an aiming sequence.

I'm not getting any bugs, but i have just noticed that i am getting a weird graphics issue which i've not seen before. basically only really on faces, they all look blurry, especially during cutscenes. Its like i can see the pixels. Anyone know why that is? I have everything maxed except ubersampling.
It is very off-putting

That does make sense, as now I think about it, I was aimming when it happened...

Never had any bugs or crashes and finished the game today. I would try to reinstall or something.

A little research shows that its not a simple reinstall issue. Seems that some others are having the same issues, although few and far between.

I have had this on armour, mainly chest armour...

The only bugs I've had so far is that the music will cut out - the speech and sound will stay, but all ambient sound and background music will be gone.

Also switching between the steam overlay and back sometimes leaves a + curser which is pretty annoying, a save and load resolves it though.

Anyone else had any bugs where they dont recieve rewards? Gold and quest items are fine but I have missed out on around 4 swords and 2 armour sets now because they just dont appear in the inventory after I win/earn them.

As i just posted in The Witcher 2 thread, it is not saving my key bindings or graphics settings and textures particularly on faces look bad, i can see the pixels, i don't know if it is a shader problem.

Aparently, you can solve the disconnected controls by pressing R a lot of times. My mate had this issue and he solved it this way.

Yeah I get this as well with my steam version. I haven't experienced the other bugs people have mentioned though.

Hi, thought i would use this thread as there is no point starting a new one and i am kind of cluttering up the official thread:)

Basically i am getting some strange performance in particular with relation to shadows in TW2. See this vid for an idea-

It is not great quality, as i havn't been bothered to change Afterburners capture settings.

I wondered if you thought i might have some setting wrong or something?
Do you think a patch or driver fix might help?(i already have the hotfix released earlier)

I should add that i am running a 5850 at 1900x1080 with everything maz/turned on except ubersampling and FPS are not an issue at all.

cheers

That isn't a bug, you running through the area where the game loads so you will see some shadows change etc, its normal.

Yes, happens here too!

Looks bloody stupid but oh well minor annoyance ;)
Yes it's normal. In most games, areas are separated by loading screens so you don't notice the ambient lighting change colour when you change areas, but in The Witcher 2 it loads everything on the fly which means no loading screens, but you see changes like this. They probably could have made it subtler but it wasn't a big issue for me.

Running a 5850 here myself, on High settings, and it's pretty much exactly the same. Plenty of texture and shadow pop-in upon entering a new area but it's never really bothered me.

I haven't encountered the issue you mention with pixellated facial textures etc. during conversations, though.

Mind you, after installing an ATI hotfix a few days ago (the one before the one released yesterday), I went back into Flotsam and literally had to wait around 15 seconds for the buildings and people to appear. I could still run about etc, but it was just a big empty area.
