Hi all!

My PC is due an upgrade. I've stretched it along by sticking in some more memory and an SSD over the last year, but I'm looking at Elder Scrolls V coming up and I know my system won't be up to that come November!

At the moment my systems is as follows:
  • Asus P5B Deluxe
  • Core 2 Duo E6600 conroe @ 2.4GHz and stock cooler
  • Corsair 4GB PC2-6400 DDR2
  • Geforce GTX260
  • Corsair HX 650w PSU
  • Corsair 60GB SSD with Win7 64bit home for applications
  • 500GB Western Digital SATA drive for backups and media

It's by no means a bad rig, but I'm looking at the OCuk bundles and thinking I could replace the guts and be set up nicely for a few years. I'm also aware that I could swap in a better cooler and overclock the conroe, but I'm not sure if that would bring enough extra horsepower to delay a full upgrade for another year or so.

If my budget was topping out at £400, would you go down the upgrade path (and if so, what would you do?) or should I squeeze some more out of what I've already got?

Many thanks!-Sam

i'd keep everything in the above quote and replace the cpu + mobo + cooler + ram with a 2500K bundle from OC'ers

This would be an EPIC upgrade:

Thanks for the quick replies!
That bundle would be the top end of my budget, but it's the one I looked at before I made the thread. Would the Corsair PSU be enough to carry the overclock?

corsair 650W? i wouldnt worry, that is a great power supply :)

perhaps in the future if you wanted an sli system, then you could upgrade the psu

I ordered the parts as per your post, and will have a crack at the overclock myself. At some point after summer I'll look at a graphics upgrade. My order should hopefully arrive tomorrow and I'll get started :)
