After some recommendations really - got an old ('94) watercooled VW that needs some tlc. Clutch - drive-shaft gaiter - bits and bobs (been sorn'd for 3 years now :eek:).

Are there any good, reliable and honest specialists nearby that I can throw lots of cash at to get my car back on the road (Norfolk)?

Many thanks

:)

Why do you need a specialist? It doesn't get much more run of the mill than a 1994 VW.

Just go to any old garage.

Ok ok - it's a Corrado - most places - including VW themselves ask stupid questions, like; Corolla? Yeah - we can fix that  :rolleyes:

After a VW specialist chap - no offense :)

Many thanks - have asked there, but there doesn't seem to be much over here in webbed feet land :o:D:D

Cheers though :)

Try pm'ing a guy on there with a forum name of rado2. I was chatting to him the other day. He's in Norfolk and may be able to advise where he gets his car done.

I just had a quick look at the Corrado, in my opinion the 2.9 V6 has some pretty impressive economy vs power figures, does it really get 33mpg when driven sensibly?

On motorway trips, yes. I've had over 33 mpg on a trip at sensible speeds. Cruising at 75/80, the engine is just ticking over. Spirited driving will see about 15-20mpg.

Our Focus on the other hand is revving at about 4000 rpm at 75

Unless you also need work done on the engine and you have a VR6 model the shouldn't be anything that needs specialist work, just take it to a normal garage.

None taken, I hope you like spending money. It's a Corrado, it doesn't get much more conventional than that for an early 90's car to be honest.

If it was bodywork you were having done on a car known for it's difficulty to repair well I could understand, but it's just a Corrado.

Good luck anyway :)

Agreed, this is DIY on the driveway stuff, the simplest era for any VW watercooled stuff from perhaps the simplest manufacturer to boot. Volkswagen, peoples car and all that!?!?

Sorry OT but my ex was from Norwich and she had a couple of webbed feet!

Was there a radiation leak in the 1980's in the area or something?

this tbh.

You don't even sound like you need a mechanic, just a fitter. You've done the hard part for them by diagnosing what it needs.
