how can i improve my business card?

As per title.

I'm just setting up a small local IT consulting business, trying to target mainly small business but will need to take anything as I'm thinking there may not be enough work.

What should I include, not include on the card? do I put prices, so I list all the services? The aim it to walk into local businesses and try to chat to the manager and hand them out.

i wouldnt word it as you have. from home users to SME, to Enterprise

i would just put bullet points

-home users
-small businesses
-large companies
-experienced friendly service
-consultancy, installations & support
-etc etc
 
First thing that I would change would be the wrapping of the text on the back, you made an effort to wrap it around the hand on the front but not on the back.

I'd also recommend having a domain email/site with more information instead of publicly displaying a gmail account.
 
You need to make a website and include the URL to it on your card, as they will want to check or have the option to find out more about your company.

You should also put a domain name e-mail address instead of a gmail to inspire more confidence in you.

You can then list what you specifically cover on this website and the prices there.

This, I hate having to phone companies to get an idea of what they do or costs. No webste means a lot of lost revenue.
 
Use subtle off-white colouring
The card should be of a tasteful thickness
Maybe even have a watermark.
 
Use a proper phone number as well whilst your at it, nothing screams "cowboy" more than just a mobile. You need a business address on there as well.
 
Grab a Skype number for the local area code, it shows you are local then. Also avoids having to give a real landline number.

Add something quirky like a QR 3D barcode or something to make people curious about the card.

The qualifications apply only to one person, add your name to the card.

Seriously, pay for your own domain! I would dismiss out of hand anyone for a computer role of that kind who was using gmai.

Also, I'd put the address and registration number of your company (if you have one) on there. It would make you look a lot more like a "real" company and less like some bloke who has knocked up a posh looking business card.
 
You need a QR code on it.

Actually.. just a simple white card with ONLY a QR code on it. That would be so ****** pro.
 
Logo Side - plain white with a logo and compnay name
Back Side - plain black, white company info, email addy, website and twitter name

Also OLDCastle computing 30 sec logo post it note sketch :D

 

You need a logo definitely and simon.deighton's one is brilliant assuming he doesn't mind you using it, go with that. I am sure someone will draw it up in illustrator for you ;)

Do you really need a picture of a hand and mouse? Bit dated. I am sure people will guess what you do from that logo!
