In the next few weeks I may want to upgrade my graphics card.

I have a 5850 and adding a second would cost about £100 or should I spend an extra £150 and get a single card.

The other option is just to wait until the end of the year, I'm just a bit undecided.

Also if it is a new card who is better right now ATI/Nvidia.

I've been concidering this myself.

I reckon the way to go would be a 6950 or 6970 and OC it.
If you sell the 5850 then you could actually save (or be the same as) compared to an extra +/- £100 for a second card.

I've never used Crossfire or SLI as it's expensive to do so when the cards first come out and after a couple of years the original card could die as soon as you buy the second so your back where you started.

Those speeds do look impressive though and it's a small outlay.

True, though unlikely to happen. For the price, 5850 crossfire is an attractive option.

These are good points, but I'm one of those that would rather have a single more powerful card. Too many problems crop up with Crossfire/SLI, esp when gaming.

I went for another 5850 and I'm very happy I did - not had ANY issues with it in any games so far :)

Going Crossfire looks like a good decision! What's the rest of the system spec and PSU?

Its' an i5 750 clocked at 3.6 GHz, it will go to about 4Ghz if I push it.

The PSU was a corsair but I'm not sure if it's 650w or 750w, I'm sure I bought it with a little to spare.

Cheers. I think I'll just wait a while longer as I think I'd be buying for the sake of buying something as it's been a while. Nothing I'm running right now with the exception of ARMA2/OA would benefit that much and I don't really play Arma2/OA I just play with the editing side of it.
