looking to do this before we decorate in the new house we've moved to.

now i have a couple of q's

whats the most common method of doing this?

i'm thinking about hacking a hole in the wall running a bit of plastic conduit down the space then plastering over the top.

is there any benefits to doing it all nice and neat with faceplates or am i as well leaving the ends open

cables i'm planning on running up to the tv

single HDMI cable (everything runs through an onkyo av amp
power lead for tv(one of those thinner 2 prong leads not a kettle type)
RGB lead for the wii

any thoughts on what size conduit i should be thinking of and any advice i should heed before i start?

Hi,

I guess from your last reply you have plaster board. If you dont then easy to drill out a hole top and bottom and drag cables up using string between the acvity (watch out for the butterfly clips), if plaster board then a picture speaks a thousand words (easy rider, looks good).

Id leave the face plates open providing the screen and amp / unit conceals them.

In terms of what cables to run, I'd go for:
HDMI
Comonent for Wii
Cat 5
at least 2 pieces of string to act as a pulley if you want to add more in. I've never noticed a difference with running power and av leads together, some say they do, so if you want to, you might need to have 2 channels.
