Yesterday i was sat in the office peering out of the window gazing at the heavy rain as a Solicitor from the office next door was driving her car out of our carpark, only she somehow didn't see my bright orange ST and decided to scrape down the whole passenger side of her car and my rear bumper, her excuse was she couldn't see, it was heavy rain and she is pregnant so her head is all over the place. This space was MASSSSIVE! could have easily parked a H2 in the space.
LOL,

So, one of my dads friends has a very well known body shop, he says he will sort it for £120. Cool i thought, however, i took it to a polar for body shop today who quoted me £754!!! :o WTF (i will NOT be paying, the other party will)

Polar ford said that the as the Bumper is plastic the color tone will be different to the main car, so they would have to spray most of the bumper, my rear parking sensor and then detail blend into the rear quarter panel.

They told me that the paint alone is going to be £250! i think thats a little bit of BS?

SO, question i have is, do i take my car to Polar ford? or do i take it to my dads friend providing he can make the car as it was two days ago, perfect with not a single mark on it. I really don't want any damage to be visible etc.
If my dads mate does it, i will be able to make a few quid out of it myself too. he wants £120, ill tell the other person £400... ill keep the 200 and pay him 200.

What would you do?

I don't know how they managed it, I think the color will be hard to match, I would consider having it done at the place that quoted £700 or let you dads mate have a go first at £120 and if your not happy then have to get it done at the other place?

Point one: resize the image.

Point two: get it done by whomever can return it to as it was and let her sort out the cost

Point three: don't be a ***** and rip off a pregnant woman. She made a mistake, that's all.

You're not paying, take it to Ford.

Any other circumstance I'd take it to my local, but in this case I would go deal because at least if it goes **** up you're not falling out with someone you know / potentially lilke.

I couldnt give a hoot about ripping her off, She tried to deny all knowledge of it, yet i have it recorded on my phone doing it then getting out and looking at the damage.
Not to mention the orange paint on her car. lol.

Then she tried to laugh about it, saying ill have to get it sorted myself, but then i got on my high horse and she agreed to pay any costs.

Andrew, thanks for that dude, that is what i was also thinking.

Yes it is, i could let her pay the £756 OR try and save her a few quid.

So you are doing her a favour by telling her its 400 quid and pocketing the cash?

When I had almost exactly the same thing happen to me 2 years ago, the repair at the BMW Main dealer cost £330 and included the use of a 320d M Sport for 3 days. I told the guy exactly how much it cost - and he sent me a cheque for exactly that amount. Given he could have denied all knowledge of it and I had no witnesses, I was very grateful.

As you should be.

Find a skilled, reputable bodyshop thats reasonably priced and send her the bill. Thats it - job done. Anything else is ridiculous.
