Still a bit paranoid on my case temps, so want to fit a 140mm fan.

Just for piece of mind really.

Lian Li do a kit

But i can not find this anywhere.

Would I be able to use a normal 140mm fan or not?

As the next problem is the screw, they are counter sunk and tiny

Any help advice, would be grand :)

The kit just looks like a fan with a grill.

Buy a 140mm fan and a 140mm fan grill.

Right but the screws are 5mm long, so is it possible to get an inch long scew. Which will sink into hole.

1) cut a fan hole

2) drill 4 screw holes

3) cable tie fan on screw holes.

Have hole, have screw holes and i am not using cables ties over a hot cpu thanks ;)

I assume the fan is going inside the case?

140mm fan, 140mm grill and normal fan screws:

*No Hotlinking!*

The screws will go through the grill, through the roof of the case and into the fan.

Those screw wont fit, they are too wide and not long enough. Just tried using the orginal screws that hold in blanking plate and they are too small. SO i need to get longer screws, if i take in a screw somewhere i may get some help.

Id wack on a 140mm filter on the outside to keep it neat.
Good idea!

Its sounds so simple, buy fan,buy grill done. Its not :)

If you are following the instructions in your first post, it is showing the fan grill fitted on the inside of the case, (probably to stop any stray wires getting snagged).

If you do as Surveyor suggested, the fan will be outside the case, to stop you sticking your fingers in the fan blades and the normal screws will fit.

The screws will fit in the fan but they will not fit into the case screw holes. Different threads! The standard grub screw for fans is way to big for the case holes. If i use the screws to hold in the blanking panel, they are too small to go into the fan....

Oh, i was thinking you where cutting a fan hole in your case. (was wondering what you meant by blanking panel:D)

Probably best to take one of the screws into a diy shop then. You may need to make it a nut and bolt with a small washer.

Just a suggestion, could you not try something like "No More Nails" or some thing similar.

That is a pic, of what i mean. You can fit a 140mm fan as an extra. But Lian Li have been sneaky, you have to fit there upgrade kit me thinks!

you think that cable ties will melt/burn at normal cpu temps? and you dont think that the fan, which is closer to the cpu, made of plastic, and actually venting the hot air, will be hotter than the cable ties just holding the fan in place?!? ;)

No probs, just an extension of your own suggestion really. :D

Wouldn't have thought of that :)

Was just a joke :p I wanted it to look OEM

That's an idea actually! But will try the bolt/not route first :)

Getting long ones may be an issue :( Is there a way to find out the thread size. I want to know if its m3,m4,m5. That sort of thing?

The stock screws for the LL panel are M3, so I'd imagine the screw holes are that large. Get some ~12mm M3 countersunk screws, as well as a washer and M3 nyloc nut per screw. The nut basically has some plastic in it to hold it in place better - to prevent it from shaking loose.
