Life in housing scheme in Kilmarnock (Scotland)

if you can come up with a better plan of action, i would love to hear it. the current system, clearly isnt working.

if there was incentive not to have a criminal record and an incentive not to do drugs, would that be a bad thing?

The guy addicted to heroin wanted to be put in jail as he thought it was the only way he could get off it.

Personally I think it's a bit of a joke that tax payers money goes to these people and they get houses for nothing. I think the government should get rid of all benefits except disability benefit. People will soon find jobs or create jobs when they have to.

In general though The Scheme is pretty hilarious. The Facebook page is even funnier during an episode. Kimberley Cunningham sometimes comes on to defend her family.

Psycho Sonny is Scotland bashing thread shocker.

Seriously just move elsewhere if you don't like it up here. The Scheme highlights the problems at the most extreme end of the scale. Scotland isn't alone, never has been alone, and never will be alone in having these problems.

I love this programme, i've just got ep4 to watch, i watched 1 and 2 when they originally aired.

I sometimes don't even understand what they say with subtitles on :p

in before people defending scotland and saying it really isnt that bad ;) (as i said this is the extreme end of the scale, but there are hundreds of thousands of people in scotland like this)

lmao :p

From your posts you clearly have it in for the country that you live in? Born in?

I'd be interested to know why, but I won't hold out much hope for a decent reply.

i think an english person has done the subtitles because i noticed they mispelled some words, etc.

im born and bred in glasgow and i had to use the subtitles at some points, neds are slowly creating their own language.

apparently chris's dad stabbed marvins dad in the eye many years ago and then chris pumped marvins bird, marvin had zero retaliation for all this, he is obviously all talk and can only hit women.

i personally think the country as a majority is going down the pan. sure their are nice people and nice places to live, but i see the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. rich people tend to breed less, so yeah thats the way i see things going.

obesity problems, smoking problems, drinking problems, knife capital of the world, etc, etc.

i would seriously like to know why you defend it so much? what has it ever done for you?

I grew up in a family with an average income with two brothers and all three of us have been able to have, and I continue to have, a good education in this country. The lack of tuition fees is an amazing positive for Scotland. I lived my entire young life in Perth, and my entire adult life in Glasgow and have found both to be very nice places to live. Aside from the price of the rail network I can't think of anything I feel strongly against.

Where did you grow up or live? I'm guessing this might be the source of disagreement.

also depends on your line of work and what you do on a day to day basis. in some jobs your sat in an office looking at a screen for 8+ hours of the day, in others you meet affluent people everyday, others you meet average people everyday and others in which all you meet is scum.

ask a community police officer working in a scheme on his thoughts and im sure they would be completely different to a highly paid director of a bank, even though they both could have grown up and lived in the same house ;).

peoples opinions could be based on nearly anything, i reckon i would still feel the same regardless of where i grew up or lived. im not white and was subjected to a lot of racism and fights in my primary school in a rough area of paisley. i then went to school in a affluent area which was the exact opposite and only had a handful of idiots from the council housing scheme.

as said before this programme shows the extreme end of the scale but i see people like this all the time. sometimes through work, sometimes during my spare time, sometimes when im watching football, etc.

if i could choose anywhere to live i would choose canada, its the nicest country ive ever visited as a whole. sure it has its problems too, but they are nothing but a blip compared to scotland. dont know if i would ever move there though, its a huge decision, not exactly like moving house 15 miles.

I live in North Ayrshire, 15 minutes away from, "The Scheme." I watched the two episodes that were on last year and I tried to watch the third... until the freakshow with the ranger topped started shooting up and kissing the camera. I was actually sitting at the desk watching it on Iplayer, that was enough for me.

As Sonny mentioned. Scotland is a complete hole!! Sure there's nice areas, but they're few and far between. However it appears It's not just Scotland, the whole of Britain is stinking. Watching those binge drinking shows, night cops etc etc. Newcastle, Birmingham etc. All the big cities in England also appear to have "scum" out to get smashed every night and cause fights. Look at Jeremy Kyle for instance, there not all Scottish on that show and everyone of them is scum.

We're a nation of binge drinkers and idiots, MP's robbing tax payers and as someone else commented earlier. The rich keep getting richer and the poor get poorer.

Look at France for instance, they all drink wine with there meals... the majority drink sensibly. There's no one out in the streets puking at 3am eating dog meat out of plastic cartons.

Anyway, getting off track a bit here. I suppose my point is. Yes Scotland is a hole, however it's not just Scotland it's 80% of the UK. Our culture is an absolute joke.

I think if you actually looked into it, the nice areas outnumber the bad areas but don't let this stop anyone from making up stuff to further their slanted views.

Large urban areas has some deprived parts shocker

Ask anyone that has lived in any country for a long time and they will probably be able to tell you that the rose-tinted touristy view that a lot of people see is not necessarily true but that doesn't make it a bad country, it just makes it like most other countries in the World. If you want a bad country, lets look at North Korea or Zimbabwe for example....

I couldn't watch this - it was absolutely revolting. People smoking in baby's faces and using god-knows-what kind of language in front of 3 year olds

It really lives up to the stereotypes - no money for the kids or to eat healthy, but all the money in the world for smoking, drinks, drugs and TVs and PS3s.

I live in Glasgow and it is rough, I feel safer in Thailand at night, I have been assaulted 'for fun' by some idiots when I was young. But growing up in Scotland I'm certainly not like the people you see in that documentary, those families are trapped in a cycle of drugs, booze and poverty, there are still a lot of decent people in Scotland.

i.......obesity problems, smoking problems, ......

Whatever is the world coming to?

We don't want those nasty fat people wandering all over the place and getting fat and bloating over sensible decent people!

Maybe we should encourage them to take up smoking to reduce their appetite! :)

My problem is being brought up knowing right for wrong and treating everyone with respect, kids just get dragged up and have no zero education.
