I might have left my debit card at work but i can't be certain as i was quite drunk (drinks at work). My oyster card was also in my cardholder and i know i couldn't find my oyster card on my way home.

So either i have lost everything OR everything is at work.

Is there a way to freeze my account and then unfreeze it once i have checked at work?

Cancel the cards and get new ones?

Thats what I done when I lost mine, means you can still access stuff but only at the branch. Plus they will monitor any transactions on your account during this period and let you know if its used. At least thats what the Halifax done for me.

No, cancel it and get a new one is your only option

Its not his only option- you can phone up and get them to block it, if it turns out it is at work then you can phone back and get it unblocked. If you cancel it then you can't undo anything, they automatically send out a new card... in a few days time...

Would be a bit annoying to cancel it, find out it was at work all along then have to wait a week for a replacement card, update your card details on amazon, paypal etc... etc..

If its RBS or Natwest they can give you a special code to get money out of the ATM without a card.

Might help if you need money.

I cancelled my Debit Card because of the Sony debacle and got a new card delivered the next day.

if you're with Natwest, you can phone them up and get a code to enter at an ATM to withdraw cash (so their ads say).

Not sure if other banks do that, but it's a great idea.

Yep ive used this service for the record, was pretty useful. Can only use it once and not a huge amount of money up to 100 quid i think they offered. :p

That is very unlikely and certainly not the norm. Either way it would still be entirely pointless in this scenario if he can simply put a block on the card.
