***Official Shogun Total War 2 Thread***

Regarding trade ships (or raiding ships ;)) in case it wasn't evident, having multiple ships involved increases (not linearly) the amount you get.

So you could dump 4-5 trade ships per location to ramp up the income.

I usually put the maximum number possible on there - they rarely get any attention from enemy fleets either.

I have to be honest and say im not really enjoying this game at all.

I seem to be simply playing it becuase I bought it.

Im playing it on easy, and those foolish christian rebels are tearing me apart.

I kill em repeatadle but they keep coming back.

I destroyed the churches, to hopefull stop the religion spreading, but is that how im meant to deal with the christians?

On easy, the battles are easy, but the campaing map is still tough if you dont know what your doing.

Keeping people happy? The only ways I think I know how to do it is:

1. Garrison some units in the province.
2. Build a fortress etc...
3. Exempt them from tax.

Am I doing this right?

Empire is falling apart as I can stop the christians revolting, I have some in the west and in the east of my tiny empire and they are attacking my provinces...:(

For anyone else suffering from the startup crash with the new patch (freezing at splashscreen) the team at CA are pulling an all nighter trying to get it fixed, apparently they are building atm and will be releasing to valve soon. Hopefully it'll be hitting steam overnight and the game will be playable again in the morning.

I just won my first campaign with the Shimazu clan on medium. I embraced Christianity and it has made me unstoppable.

Grab all 4 of the trade posts near their starting position if you can and put full stacks of trade ships on them ( but remember to protect them!) this will give you loads of money

If you are christian, you will gain access to the Nanban trade ship, which is basically unstoppable. Just one can wipe out a full stack of normal japanese ships so you will be king of the seas.

Only thing to be careful of is making sure you will build chapels everywhere and have lots of missionary's converting your populace.

You also get canons which are brilliant for thinning out a force before they get to you (Need 2-4 in an army preferably)

Hmm, or the new Ikko Ikki... tough one :O

That sounds like fun - think I will try that for my next playthrough.

The new DLC is tempting, but doesn't really bring much for the price.

After starting again with the Shimazu clan, Im doing a lot better.

However..... I have only managed to do better becuase im going so slowly.

I literally get all the upgrades for the provinces, which takes a while before moving on.

VERY very slow progress.

On a short campaing, I have no idea yet, how much time I have left still......

Does every one else go as slow as this, or am I going to slowly..

I try to go slowly, but always end up charging through the campaign map.

The thing is with the total war series, if you have an army, you need to use it or it ends up costing too much in upkeep.

I don't think there is any such thing as too slowly though.

Just be sure to upgrade with mostly economic type buildings - just keep one or two provinces for building your army and beef them up with all the best upgrades.

My Shogun 2 installation totally ****ed up yesterday, after I downloaded the patch. Maybe it was DarthMod that screwed something up, maybe not.

Anyway, the patch installed without any problems, I'd uninstalled DarthMod and made sure the scripts file was removed. Verified the files and all is good but the game crashes at start up, right at the first logo before the menu is loaded.

Looks like I'm gonna have to redownload 20GB of files...

Mine did the same - verified the install and it corrected some of the files. Then last night Steam downloaded another small, 20mb ish patch and it worked fine today...

What benefits does converting to christianity have?

The christian trade post I guess.

But doing the short campaing, wont I run out of time?

Basically, if I go any faster than I am now I will spread my self to thin and not have the cash to support my expansion.

Not enjoying this game.....

I thought I wouldnt when I bought it.

Its not that its bad.... its just so slow and for me its not that much fun either...

As the Shimazu clan, I conquered the island im on, I tried to cross the seas in ships, lost my entire fleet and army to a bigger fleet.

Ok, so Iturn up with a big fleet of my own, to find the black ship now in my way!

Great!

Not fun. I'v played it for 20hrs according to steam. Think thats enough, I give up. :(

Good trade. You will rule the sea with the Nanban trade ship. (Makes it easy to capture the black ship as well).

canons

There are some other bonuses (that you get as a clan trait) aswell but i can't be bothered to fire up Shogun and find out :p
