UEFA Champions League Final - Manchester United vs. Barcelona

Yes it really is that simple. Barca can be got at no shadow of a doubt.

Technically are Utd the equal of Barca, player for Player, probably not. Yet history has shown us that a many David vs Goliath matches in the past are won by the underdog by showing their stronger mental strength and believing they are their oppositions equal.

Barcelona are no mugs either. they also have terrific mental strength. When mental strength is euqal on both sides, it goes rigth down to skill and luck.

Barcelona are NOT ARSENAL mate. they got teh mental strength thats lacking badly at arsenal.

2nd half is on. lets do it

Give it ten minutes then get Nani on for Valencia. Hernandez hasn't gotten any service since the first 15mins because Rooney is too all over the place and Roo and Carrick are dropping really deep when we lose possession.

My biggest worry is that Evra isn't tracking runs at all, and it's leaving us so exposed down the left.

Exactly, i'm only half watching but he seemed at fault for the goal and for one very close chance

Very interesting half. United did well to equalise but too often they've been stood ball watching at times or been bypassed in midfield too easily, or do what 99% of other teams do and just hoof it towards Barca's goal and have it come straight back at them. Got to play your way forward.

The thing is Barca have had quite a few 'almost but not quite' moments where they very nearly scored, and you expect them to be able to score, but in all the game's I've seen them draw/lose it's precisely for that reason they've not won. Can't waste chances. I can def see United winning this, perhaps 2-1 late in the game, or a goal in extra time. Barca always look more likely to score, but as with watching Arsenal play every week, you can have all the possession and look dangerous, but fail to take a chance and get mugged at the other end.

The problem is they're so hard to get the ball off, and when you do there's a 50% chance their cheating will get them a freekick. Can't believe they got one from that Valencia tackle.

Everytime they have the ball its because Utd gave it away, it doesn't really matter how hard it is to get it off them the problem is the giving it away in the first place, which Utd have been doing insanely badly.

They are trying a rather smart tactic, they are playing beyond the midfield up to Hernandez, they have a better midfield than you, and anyone, thats simple fact, doesn't say in the rules you have to run past Xavi with the ball though. The problem is, Berbatov upfront, knock the ball, onside, perfect control, start an attack, Hernandez, knock the ball up, offside, every time.

Sure you'll get goals from that, against the best and worst teams but Hernandez doesn't CREATE chances of make them, he feeds off mistakes, nothing wrong with that, just completely the wrong game for him.

No it's the rolling and every player immediately claiming a freekick. Busquets and Pedro in particular.

So far I recall Busquets rolling around briefly, wasn't a replay but looked like Valencia kicked him relatively hard, other than that Barca haven't really done anything and if anything its been Hernandez and Rooney asking for a freekick everytime they lose a header, of which they've basically lost them all.

For me, Giggs, Park, Carrick, Hernandez and Valencia just aren't offering anything at all.

Utd at their best a few years ago was Berbatov holding up the ball and Ronaldo/Rooney running off his passes, against that defence you want to do that with Nani/Rooney running off Berbs. Knocking a long ball inbehind the defence you aren't actually playing against the defenders, but against the ball and your own passing ability, how many have run away from them to the keeper? You need the ball down between defence and midfield, run at the defence and pass between their defence, thats where they are weak.
