UEFA Champions League Final - Manchester United vs. Barcelona

Win premier League by 9 points, lose emphatically to a rampant Barcelona side...

The rest of the premier league must be really ****

:p

It was a sure bet that Barca were going to win tonight. I hope the united fans didn't think they had a chance and feel disappointed that they didn't win ?

Berba wouldn't have made any difference
We couldn't keep possession. Berba for all his qualities lacks pace and effort. Interesting to see where he ends up.

Berba is by a country mile your best posession keeper, you had pace and "effort" all over the pitch, what did that do for you exactly?

Berbatov not playing was frankly not only ridiculous but treating the guy insanely badly, he should have started but not having him on the bench, lol.

As for certain Utd fans on here saying Young and Adam aren't welcome, because Valencia is sooooo great....... he's decent, can have a very good game, but he's far far from a great winger, absolutely useless tonight, conceded posession through needless fouls all night long and was insanely lucky to get a yellow late in the game, he should have been on a yellow midway through the first half.

Utd weren't involved, horrible midfield, Barca's "game" is so simple, pass slightly backwards, Park/Giggs/Carrick would move forward a few steps and then the guy who passed it runs beyond them, and receives a return pass and in 2 seconds and through sheer ignorance he's gone past the entire midfield without breaking a sweat.

Utd's midfield was woeful, truly woeful in closing down, they did what Diaby did in all the games for us, just kind of stood near them thinking that somehow helped, its the final 3 yards that blocks off all the passing angles, and when they pass back don't watch the ball WATCH THE RUDDY MAN AND TRACK HIS RUN.

They've done this against every team for 5 years, no one learns from it, its a joke frankly.

Defensively, Messi/Xavi/Iniesta have the ball "near" the back four and in the middle and Evra would drift inside to help, at which point any of them played Alves, Messi, whoever inside where Evra should have been, shocking positioning from him all game long.

Hernandez, aside from offering no posession and no interplay, you have to take into account the occasion, he's young, new to the country new to the competition and his team, this is a HUGE game to rely on him for the whole 90 minutes. They've literally not seen him play a game so big and had no idea if he'd dissappear or be brilliant, Berbatov is someone who rarely if ever loses his cool in big games.

You won the premier league and got to the champions league final. Granted I think the united team is poor is comparison to previous teams but it would take 500million or more to build a team to compete seriously against Barca.

They are possibly the greatest club side ever put together. Fairly cheapily as well IIRC. Up until they bought Villa wasn't the whole side assembled for less than the cost of Ronaldo?

I honestly don't know who you could buy which man for man would give Barca trouble. **** knows why they want Fabregas.

Like i said, if you want to compete with barcelona you have to play like them and fergie to my knowledge has never assembled a team who play quick one touch tippy tappy possession football.

IMO, if Wenger became manager of Real madrid, that Madrid side would match barcelona in every area.

lucky break? it was an even match that night. barcleona had a good start and then we had a good spell in that half. second half we played well. we gave them more of a match then united this evening.

considering united suppose to be a far superior team then arsenal right? O and the best defence in europe?

shipped in 3 goals, could have been more in a "home tie"??

such a shame united couldnt give barcelona a game. for all the hype surrounding united.

You gave them more of a match, but they weren't playing as well as they were tonight in my opinion.

It wasn't a home tie, they were in the unlucky white away kits for goodness sake ;)

There shouldn't be that much hype surrounding United, they have a fairly weak main team compared to Barcelona, surely you can see that.

Winning the EPL has been a big achievement, but I think most people knew this would be a huge, huge ask.

Got a feeling this result has probably just given Fergie a pretty big cheque book now!

To buy who?

Who do you buy to trouble Barca?

Your team needs strengthening in the PL and it will be, but you don't have enough money to buy players to match this lot man for man. Why not take a leaf out of their book, instead of spending £200million in a transfer window grow your own or bring in players to bring on.

Haha, the three brazilians for Barca celebrating together.

? I don't support Utd, but anyway it's more the fact that there is still obviously a gulf in difference between the teams that they still need to strengthen. Not to mention within another season 3-5 of their main squad will be gone.

Not disappointed by the defeat but disappointed in the manner of it. We maybe could have won that match 1 out of 20 games. Sadly we just didn't perform.

I'm going to duck out of here until tomorrow now, I'm sure there will be the usual wind up idiots.

148 - Despite attempting a CL 2010/11 high of 148 passes (excl. crosses), Xavi managed the best success rate (95.3%) on the pitch. Master.

Well if you listen to a lot of the ex-pro's, this Barca side is the best there has been. The best club side ever and could possibly take on any International side too. So is their any embarrassment in loosing to that team, none whatsoever.

Playing Carrick and two wingers (Giggs and Park) against Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets was never going to be a match.

Although there were very few plus points to this game, I think Rooney was head and shoulders above anyone else in a Utd shirt tonight.

Gutted we lost as I really thought we could beat them but taking nothing away from Barca, they are a fantastic team and well and truly worthy winners of the Champions League for the 4th time

I think we showed in the first 20 mins that we could have won if we'd kept our discipline and ground out a 2-1 victory. Sadly our defence didn't live up to that and Barca absolutely ran away with it. You can't come back from two goals down with a Barca team in that form.

For folks criticising Hernandez - the lad played an insane amount of games this season, had no service tonight and is extremely young and new to the club. Maybe we should have played Bébé or Macheda instead? They've got way more experience...

It was not an even match, don't talk ****e, Barca completely took their foot off the gas in the second half after the referee was trolling by not giving blatent penatlies and disallowing a perfectly legit goal.
