Dealers, chavs, rich folk. they all love them, its that universal smug apeal i think. Its not badge snobbery, but make sure you buy one with a cast iron warranty, apparently.

Well exactly they do make good cars. Thats what makes the badge appealing. They make a good M3 so you buy a 318 and think you're the 'BOOM TING!'. Easy.

Having had new or nearly new examples of all the top five except Ferrari, my gut instinct is that the best engineered cars are BMW.

They all had their strong points though obviously. BMW and now Audi seem to get the most negative reactions though.

I don't even have a licence yet, but due to the number of cars my parents have had in the last 10 years or so, I can safely say that out of all those I prefer BMW's. What surprises me most is that Land Rover doesn't even get a shout out purely on the basis that they make Range Rovers.

It's not restricted to chavs at all. But doing things like "liking" stuff and other cringe-inducing activities is most often done by chavs.
