What makes someone a car enthusiast?

there are obviously various degrees of car enthusiast

so money bags who drives xyz special car because their friends have similar cars isnt exactly a car enthusist.... maybe a

tourist car enthusiast

the guy who loves corsas only, or golfs only, or bmws only

brand enthusiast

the guy who loves pulling them to bits, making it go faster than it should

petrol head

then youve got that chavs, the ones who are into it for the image (tourists?), the ones who live for washing them. not thought about those

A car enthusiast is someone who finds cars interesting and likes to talk about and be around them, doesn't really matter what they are either.

Yes, because I can at least appreciate the amount of work and detailing that's gone into it. Different strokes for different folks, and all that jazz.........

I would never put someone down for owning something - rather try and engage them in meaningful conversation about why they own it, or why they like it.......

Hmm I sort of agree with the comment that anyone who likes cars is an enthusiast but then part of me thinks true enthusiasts/petrol heads enjoy driving cars as that is the primary purpose of cars.

Not everybody can afford to own something though - but that wouldn't stop them from being an enthusiast Much like people can be enthusiastic about their sport, even if they don't participate in it (i.e. F1).
