well my viper fan came today to swap over from the stock fan that come with my H50.... well im going to put the stock one back on. running Prime and also im gaming it has shaved NOTHING off my temps it did take a little longer to hit my max temp under load (65c) by about 2 mins but the Noise these things made i had set both fans to 100% for a fair test and the standard corsair fan is near silent, the akasa viper is like a jet engine lol. very very loud and saving me 1c on two of the cores of my cpu very disappointed with this fan  oh well time to go change it back to the stock fan. i have to say if you have a H50 stick with the stock fan its so quiet and works a treat. Rant over lol

are you sure you put the fan the same way as the stock was? the stock is meant to be mounted as an intake so you might have put the vipers as exhaust

I hope so Im a Engineer :p yes still using it as a intake blowing over the Rad, i have put the stock fan back in now and the temps are the same, TBH the rad does not get that warm 65 under prime so im happy with that given the overclock etc just disappointed at the noise levels of the viper is very loud

tbh you should either:

put the stock fan as intake on back and have the viper sucking air through the rad blowing into the case (and hopefully u have top fan to exhaust).

Or buy either two sythe genle typhoon fans or two akasa apache fans with a PWM spitter to control both fans in a push/pull config, this should see better results, its what i have set up.

Uhm, not to sound blunt but on a WC rig I am not sure why you thought swapping out 1 fan would have made any real difference to temps?

well the Static pressure and CFM are much higher than the stock fan so i thought i would see at least 1 or 2c difference, My main Gripe tbh is the noise of the thing !

Yes i have a top fan exhausting the air temp coming out the top is very cool much cooler than when i had my C2D in there on air.

im happy with the setup i have i dont think my temps are over the top need to go grab a new PSU though

I have not tried push pull yet but i might try putting the viper on the other side of the rad pulling air away from the rad this afternoon.

Now i want a proper WC rig lol Dammit !

Go for it. Get a proper loop setup. I was like you. Had my H50 on release day loved it then thought what if????? So I made my first loop, ive never looked back!

Unfortunately I cannot agree with the corsair fan being silent. In my HAFX I can't hear ANY of the fans except the GPU and the corsair H60 fan. Using the fan controller, I put the fan to about 9v - anything more and it's just stupidly loud.

I also own a corsair H60 and replaced the fan with a akasa apache and I can't hear it and the temps are well within acceptable norms. idles at around 35c and gets to around 55C whilst gaming

im about to buy 2x GT1450 & 2 x GT1850 to see how loud they are compare noise wise to the two apache i have atm and which cools better :)

This was like me, apart from an Antec 620 :)

I now have gpu and CPU water-cooling :D
