Refrigerate after opening. Otherwise the cupboard until opened.

Exactly, do people really think half the population gets I'll every time they have ketchup or eggs that aren't stored in the fridge. I'm guessing it will be roughly 50/50 split.

Stuff like sugar and salt are preservatives because they draw water out.

I think it's to do with the fact that having sugar in a solution lowers the water potential of the solution.

Maybe, but I was pointing out the fallacy of assuming that if something's not refrigerated when you buy it, it doesn't need to be once it's open either. How L0rdMike is still with us obeying this theory is anyone's guess!
