Quite recently my Nokia 5800 has been switching off by itself randomly. Its just a real pain to have to check to see if its still on. I've shaken it and banged it deliberately to see if its a loose connection but I've had to really give it a whack to switch it off. I don't believe its a network problem (virgin) but would be interested in hearing if anyone else has experienced this problem?

BTW, would be grateful for any recommendations on a good phone to upgrade to (not iphone or equivalent as I can't afford it!)

Thanks

A Orange San Francisco would be a nice upgrade for a man on a tight budget (£80-£100) would be a major upgrade from a 5800.

Thanks for the suggestion Diablo but meant upgrade on contract not buying a PAYG phone. I've been out of the loop of mobiles for a couple of years now and would like to know which phones would be recommended - the HTCs do look great though.

I got some decent money when I recycled my 5800 and bought a Orange San Fran with a custom rom it's been great so far.

I wouldn't bother with an Orange San Fran as it's frustratingly slow to use; a bit too underpowered for Android. That might not seem so bad in comparison to the frankly rubbish 5800, but if you're buying new, you might as well get something decent.

To the OP, I'd check your networks website and see what deals they are offering new customers for a price you are willing to pay. They should at least be able to match those or exceed them.
