Just found out today that a friend of mine I used to work with was killed last night due to negligence of a mini bus driver!! 21 years old whole life ahead of her just finishing uni!

Now i have released you never know what's coming around the corner so sod it I'm going to enjoy it!! Pretty much made my mind up to go traveling and stop worrying so much about the future! :D

Shame it's taken something like this to open my eyes!!

RIP Catherine

Very sad. Its worse by the fact that her life was taken away by someone who wasn't paying attention, and yet he lives.

I'm glad your seeing some form of positive from it. It could be a life changing thing!

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I lost a friend, by the sounds of it in similar circumstances when a bus collided with his car. He was the same age as your friend. RIP Robert.

R.I.P.

I Feel for the bus driver too.

I doubt very much he started his shift with the intent of killing somebody.

The minibus driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Its not unusual for a driver to be arrested in such circumstances.

He should rightly get charged if there is evidence to back up the claim, if not, then I have every sympathy with him.

Being charged is not proof of guilt, whilst I understand your anger & grief, you should not jump to conclusions, unless of course you know more than the BBC is reporting?

I agree! If it turns out to have not been her fault then I will to feel for the driver! But from what I know the she (the mini bus driver) lost control of the bus (on a straight bit of road?!?! ) And then plowed into the side of her!

I would hate to have the guilt of that on my mind

Life isn't too short at all. You are significantly more likely than not to make it to a ripe old age. And if you are sensible about what you and dont do rather than just live for the moment, you'll enjoy all of it.

A happy balance is needed between prudent and risk aversion and living for the moment. All of one and none of the other is not the way forward, IMO.

But you never know if when you drive to work next someone might drive into you! Or when you go to bed tonight something might spark up!

What I mean is that I'm going to spend more time doing what I want to , and not work as many hours / days as I am! 7 days a week for 4 months is killing mu social life lol

You can't live your life in fear of that!

And thats what i meant - you need a balance, 7 days a week is bonkers :p

Oh I won't live in fear of that! But my point was that this has made me realize you don't know what tomo will bring and that I should enjoy more than I am now, do more, be more decisive quicker

Yea 7 days is hurting now! Only 7 weeks left tho :P

Wait & see what the investigation uncovers, I'd be surprised if it was a girl racer in the mini bus, more like a blow out / suspension failure or indeed driver error.

I guarantee you this, the driver now under arrest will be suffering, guilt - regardless of fault - is common in such situations.

Again, R.I.P. :(

I'm sorry to hear you've lost your friend in such a tragic way. Irrespective of blame, it's still an awful thing to have to deal with. :(

I'm sorry it had to take such a "wake up call" to make you determined in your life once again - hopefully you'll be able to turn this negative experience into something positive.

Life is always too short when you are in real danger of losing it.

Sometimes it doesn't hurt to stop and take stock, sit back and appreciate what you have.

OP, sorry to hear about you friend. It is never easy losing people close to you when young. Although I would shy away from attributing blame just yet, as others have said arresting the Bus Driver is pretty standard procedure in these circumstances and doesn't or a least shouldn't infer guilt.

Yea I agree the driver will be feeling bad, so much now on her mind etc! I can't see the mini bus driver being a girl racer! But nothing went wrong somewhere! We will find out eventually

Agreed. Sometimes, just seizing the moment and living by the moment is just as exciting as planning and being careful about what you do and don't do. I've had some of my best experiences on impromptu decisions. :)
