Hello OcUK,

I'm looking for a desk and chair to sit in the corner of my bedroom, what's the best place to purchase these items from? The budget for the desk is around £250, and around £150 for the chair.

Requirements below.

Desk:

- Corner desk (Rounded L shape)

- Deep, as I have a 32" TV

Chair:

- Comfortable (12+ hours per day seated )

Thanks!

I have a Galant desk (280cm x 80cm) and it's great, you can easily customise them to fit the space you have as they have attachments. I was given a leaflet in the store with everything you could get for them in it, very useful.

I've got the Galant desk and it's perfect. Got three monitors (27" and 2 x 24"), a G15 keyboard, my printer and large mouse matt on it and still have loads of room to spare. Room for full ATX case (at least) underneath and very sturdy. No frills, just a solid metal frame with a big lump of wood(ish) on the top. Will post a picture of my setup in a minute.

First one I've uploaded direct from my phone, let's see if it works:

That looks very big, I'm searching for that now.

Right, I think I've decided!

Desk

Chair

Thank you for your help guys, and for the picture Confused Stu. I'll place my order in the next few days if I don't find anything else.

Edit: Which is best, a "T-leg" or "A-leg" (For steadiness)?

I ordered the desk from Ikea on the 30th (Post day) and received it on the morning of the 22nd, built it yesterday. They charged for delivery too. :o Shocking. Very good quality, almost too big though. :D.

Pics to follow very soon. :p

*Looks empty, have a tons of work to mess it up though. :(

Edit: Couldn't find the right USB cable for my phone, had to send them over blootooth to my old laptop then from my laptop to my desktop then to photobucket. :o Gah.

Hope this helps anyone looking to buy a desk similar to this.

The Galant is horrifyingly expensive for what it is.

I urge any of you looking for a desk to look at second hand/office closure warehouses. They are amazing value for money! I got a desk larger than and of higher quality than the Galant delivered for £120.

:edit: Also I would really advise sitting in the Markus before you buy it. I thought it was comfortable when I first sat in it but the non-adjustable lumbar support ended but being horrendously annoying after just a week :o So much so that I am now selling it!

:Edit2: Far cheaper, delivered nationally... http://www.officecw.co.uk/acatalog/Corner_Workstations.html go down to "Project Oak", that's what I have and it's brilliant. They deliver nationally. Under £100!

Yeah, it was pretty steep. Good for what I need though. It's the whole setup on the underside which is the expensive part, very very very heavy too. The chair, I think is rather good but then again, it's my first. Good back support as well in my opinion. :)

^^ Not going to risk breaking my back trying to place my system on it, tbh.

Edit: What also kinda sucks is that it doesn't have any cable management holes at all, overall I'm liking it so far though. :p

I'd make my own desk tbh. Just grab some veneer timber from your local DIY in the dimensions you want. Saved me about £100 last time I checked, and got it just how I wanted it.

+1 for making it yourself if you have the tools/resources. Modding it to suit your needs is great, I plan to do it when I move into my new place :)
