So, me and a mate got bored, so we decided to customise a stock ASUS GTX 480 to make a frankenstein-esque MONSTER! :D

I bought a GTX 580 TFII the other day for watercooling purposes, so I had a spare TFII cooler hanging about...

And after a lot of filing on the stock baseplate for the 480, we had this:

Aaaannnnd what do we get when we mix them together?

We haven't installed it yet, but I shall keep you guys notified on temps etc :)

Oh and a shot of the rest of the rig :) (which I built, ignore the cables as I am tidying them later ;))

So, what do guys think of le monster-beast-thingy? :D

Thanks to guyslade for providing the 480, and for helping me file it down :D

got the pics. I really don't know what to think. You'll basically have a 480 twinfrozrII
It will be interesting to see the temp drops and how noisy it is though.

I wouldn't have thought the cooler would fit

Haha we were having this discussion, could you imagine if they get and were like !

We had to file down a lot of stuff :)

Guy is putting it in his PC in a bit, we shall see if it works :)

Well we just had a blast with compressed air to get rid of all the metal shavings, I've just had a shower and guy hasn't come back from his flat yet (across the hall) so I would imagine it's working :)

Quick update on how the card is running:

Been stressing it out with various games all day, and what can I say? I might do this sort of crazy stuff more often! :)

If anyone wants a custom high end card, give me a bell. I'm going home today so will have power tools to hand :D

maybe a dumb question ... you didnt file that heat sink down whilst it was on the card did you ?

and could you not have watercooled the asus one and left the msi one at stock keeping the warrenty ?
