Hi chaps,

I am going on some long haul flights this week and bringing my iPad with me.

Question is, is there an app out there where I can whack all my TV/Film files on my iPad and watch them on the plane?

Not bothered about them taking up lots of room.

I have VLC, will that work?

I use CineXPlayer....good app to drag and drop movies on using iTunes. No MKV support at the moment though.

I rip all mine using HandBrake, then push them to my iPhone/iPad. Takes a while to rip them, but it's very easy to do and works a treat for my needs as I don't mind waiting for it to encode.

Are you on the aircraft already? If you're bringing it with you then I can only assume you are and therefore it's too late to ask the question.

Oh, you mean 'taking your iPad'. I was confused there as you bring things to where you currently are. [/pedant who really really hates americanisms]

VLC should do it but you could use something like Handbrake to convert your files to a format that the iPad can play and then just dump them into iTunes and sync as normal. You'll probably get more on if you convert first.

Try avplayerhd, I've been using that to watch media on the pad without having to recode them first, as the app recodes on the fly and works very well.

I use AV Player HD - will play everything and lets you FTP the movies directly from your PC using and FTP client.
