Anyone know of a pc tv card, that can work through the pc, but also standalone.

What i need is to tell said card to record a program, i can then turn off the pc knowing it'll still be recorded.

Getting tired of having to leave the pc on when i need to watch something.

I don't want a pvr as all my setup is done through the pc here.

Thanks.

Standby, you mean sleep mode?

So windows mce handles all of this, and goes back into sleep once recorded?

Tbh i could do with the pc not coming on at all.

A TV Card will always need the host PC to be switched on to function.

Whether it be playback or recording several components will be needed at any one time.

RAM, hard drive, Motherboard, CPU, Graphics card are all needed to operate a TV card.

WMC will indeed wake the PC from a sleep state (5-10W) a few minutes before a scheduled program, record the program, and then put itself back to sleep afterwards.

Not quite sure how it would be possible to have a PCI card or USB device do anything without the host PC being switched on and active.

If it's a noise issue and waking you up or something look at silencing your rig for low idle usage such as this, or get a dedicated PVR or HTPC that is silent.
