Corsair have announced a new line of cases called the Carbide series. Coming in at around $150 (£90 or so), they are Corsair's most affordable cases.

I think Corsair are on to yet another winner here, especially with the cheaper price tag and same great features found in their more expensive cases (cable management and ssd compatibility etc.). I think they look great and the 500r should be pretty effective at air cooling too with its 200mm side fan.

Thoughts anyone?

do corsair still struggle with air flow?

?

Only the original black 600T case struggled on air with its 800rpm case fans. The newer white 600T and 650D case fans run at 1000rpm thereby increasing airflow to an acceptable standard.

If you are thinking of the 700 and 800 series then they are specifically designed for custom water builds and and as a result don't produce amazing air cooling performance.

Pardon my rough comparisons but the first one is like a HAF 922 and the other one is like a Coolermaster 690.

Are we agreed?

Seems a bit of a botched announcement this one from Corsair - seems unclear whether they are both available in both white & black plus the inside of the more expensive case just seems to use the exact same layout as the cheaper version (unless they have also botched that up).

Couple of things I have to say on these new cases:
On the Corsair forum in reply to (the lack of) front usb3.0 internal headers a couple of the corsair tech guys seemed to say that the reason Corsair weren't using these headers was because they didn't think the headers/cables were up to the job and you would get limited speed/performance ... a week later and they now seem to have magically solved that problem with these new cases.

I think these two new cases are very good looking indeed with some very good features but the price seems a bit too near the already stunning 650D and 600T yet the cases do not look up to the standard of any of those - so the prices will need to be quite a bit below either of those cases if they are to succeed I feel ...

Hopefully they update the 650D to include the internal headers though as they have magically managed to solve what was holding the case back.

The 400R is available in black

The 500R is available in white/black not all black.

OcUK already has an order placed for the stock :)

Yep thanks for that - will be interesting to see how these are priced compared to what Corsair have in the market so far as I have seen the 650D on sale for about £115 on the net. These would have to be quite a bit cheaper than that to land on the intended market in the UK.

When will these be available? It is a pity the 500R is not available in all black though.

In relation to this do you new when the newer revised versions of the Corsair 650D will be available, the ones with the faults fixed and 2 xUSB 3.0 in the front panel?
