Hey guys, hoping someone can offer a little advice on this one:

Im looking to get:
i5 2500 3.3 ghz, Asus P8P67, Corsair XMS3 8gb and for a screen LG W2363D 23"
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-091-LG

All i gotta sort out is graphics, i thought i had it figured out but im stuck between 580 gtx sli or 6970 CF, anyone got any suggestions on the card front i might not have thought of or the system as a whole?

Cheers guys :D

It's a 120Hz screen, so that rules out ATI if you want to do 3d. The screen is only 1920x1080 so SLI GTX580 is MAHOOOSIVE overkill. Just get the one card, add another later if you struggle.

thanks for the quick replies, sounds like good advice, will a single 580 be able to handle games like metro 2033 at those kind of rezes at full whack with aa etc?

Make sure you go for the i5 2500K, not just the standard i5 2500 - or you won't be able to overclock properly.

Also, I would suggest going for a board like the MSI P67A G45 or GD53, these boards overclock well and cool - plus they can run two cards in crossfire at x8/x8 speeds (the vanilla P8P67 can only run the second card at x4 speed and doesn't support SLI).

If you can afford GTX 580 SLI then it is the fastest option, but personally I would suggest just picking up a singe GTX 580 and perhaps spend the other £350 in a year on the next top-of-the-line card.
