What water cooled disasters have you had?

I'm not liquid cooled myself but was maybe thinking of going down that rout on my next build. I was wondering just how common water spills were and what was the damage/cost if any you have had? Also, is there any monitoring/warning equipment for leaks in your machine? Crag.

Putting the o-ring on the wrong side of the pump when fitting the aftermarket top. Couldn't figure out why the res/pump was leaking badly...

Damn XPSC funny wording...

Changing a fitting on a res whilst trying to keep most of the water in the loop. Tried to stop water coming out of the res by putting my finger over it and instead caused water to spray everywhere onto my components.

Luckily it was multiple distilled and after it dried everything was fine :D. But yeh, note to remove loop completely before attempting to swap out parts and stuff.

decided my rear case hung rad+fan needed to be bent out to 30-45d so used a 6" 1# flat head.
result poked hole in rad, solderd it up fine just looks like s. now

Using longer screws for shrouds on my rad and punctured it.

Another occasion managed to spill quite a large amount of water of on my 8800GT draining my loop, left it a week to dry and got another 9 months out of it before it started artifacting.

I have had to reservoirs crack. The first one cracked badly and emptied my res (~140ml) in about an hour. The second time, I left my PC on overnight and it cracked sometime in the night, luckily not that bad so there was still enough water in the res to keep pumping. Even luckier though, the res was directly above the pump which itself was above a fan mesh so the water drained straight out of the bottom of my case.

Running a metal res these days and no cracks yet :D

suprisingly, none at all, built my first loop around 4 months ago now and all is still ticking over nicely, no spills no damage, almost nearly dropped my 800D trying to tip it around to drain air from the rad but managed to save it lol, 1/2 Barbs - 7/16 Tubing, tighter than a ducks **** :p

Barb came of hose, i thought 1/2barbs with 7/16 tubing was water tight, no pun:)
Took mobo, gpu and ram in 1 swoop. In the end good by e6600 and 4890, hello i7 and 5870:)

seriously :O was the tubing fitted properly? everything i've read suggests you can only get 7/16 off a 1/2 barb by cutting the ends lol

none - in around 4 years.

really dont understand how people how accidents , its not particuarlly difficult to attach a round piece of plastic to a round piece of metal.

as director of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant I had a slight cooling issue a while back, bit of an issue for a few days but its all under control now... no bad radiation stuff or anything escaped.... honest....

Probably the one I'm going to install into my system in a few days time ... I need my finger nails to grow a bit first so I can re-chew em :D.
