I want to buy a smart phone with a QWERTY keyboard. Any HTC Desire Z owners want to share their experiences? Is the keyboard any good? is the keyboard built to last?

Thanks,

I love mine, the keyboard is excellent.
I still have doubts as to the longevity of the hinge for the screen, though i've not had any issues with it so far. i've had it since February.

overall, it's a nice device, and while it's been superseded on the CPU-front by newer devices, when you overclock the nuts off it (mine's OC'd to 1516MHz!) it's still plenty fast :D

remember though, you're sacrificing specs and size and weight (it's a heavy phone!) for the keyboard, only go for it if you're sure you want one.

I love it. Feels solid in the hand and it isn't too wide - you can easily use it one-handed.

If you absolutely must have a physical keyboard, its probably the best phone you can get.

If not, then there are much better phones out there.

Sent mine back as I despised it, and it developed faults after me deciding it was just a basic Android handset, with a keyboard attached.

Got the HTC Incredible S now, and haven't looked back.

I've had mine for about 6 months now and not had a single issue with it. The hinge for the keyboard is more durable than it looks. I generally treat stuff carefully though, but there is a video on youtube of some guy shaking the whole phone around on it's hinge like crazy and it was still intact.

It's pretty thick due to the keyboard and quite heavy, but at the same time it feels very solid and makes most phones feel plastic. It's not exactly fast, but copes well with gingerbread and I don't notice any unreasonable amounts of lag or delay when using the phone. Also the screen is brilliant, very vibrant (but accurate) colours and excellent viewing angles for a normal LCD.

I'm not sure how it stands compared to the latest offering right now, but it's by no means a bad phone.

My housemate has one and he loves it. It's similar to my old Desire only thicker and much heavier! Performs pretty much the same only doesn't have the annoying space limitations.

His has recently broken however and it's currently still with HTC being repaired as it wouldn't boot at all getting stuck on the green and white HTC logo screen, it was totally stock and not rooted. Apparently they have replaced the motherboard and at least 5 other components!

I've been thinking about getting this phone as well, as the more I use a pure touch screen phone, the more annoyed I get with lack of buttons.

If only Nokia had went with Android. :/

Get paid this week and might take the plunge for it. :)
