LEXUS IS 220D SPORT

From what I've read... Diesels are no more economical than the IS250 V6. The IS220d only comes in manual also, and that's supposed to be the worst 'box on gods earth.

Upshot; get an IS250 Auto SE-L (with multimedia pack).

If it's the same engine as the one in my Avensis 2.2 180BHP it'll be crap at fuel economy. I'm up to 40.2 just at the minute, driving 70 miles a day sedately. That's up from 38 mpg during winter.

3rd gear is nice though!

I remember reading that the 2.2 diesel in the Lexus is for some reason not that reliable. Goes very much against the what you'd expect from Lexus, but I'd think twice before buying one. An interesting alternative might be the Accord.

I also remember something fundamental explaining both why these are not more popular, and why they are so cheap. Can't remember what it was though, but they interested me in that it seemed like a lot of flash for not much cash.
