Hi,

Me and my wife are holding (not yet purchased) tickets to Tokyo for March next yr. We of course do not have to stick to Tokyo though.

It is somewhere we have always wanted to go and snapped up these cheap tickets. We are paying just £330 each if we go ahead and book!

We are wondering if this is a good time of year to go? The weather seems to generally be OK. The dates would be around 11-26 March.

Thanks

Try their new delicacy....

Can we have less of the pathetic troll comments please? Would a mod mind removing the 2 above?

Good god. Just because someone doesn't instantly respond with your desired answer doesn't make them a troll. This isn't "Q&A session on OcUK" or the "Help, I have problems and need solutions" sub-forum. This is general discussion, and a relatively open forums.

This thread is now about the banning of the word "troll", as it is being clearly misused over the entire forum.

Yes, it is a fairly good time to go. The weather is quite nice.

Does. Don't care what you think about it anyway. Just want someone to answer my question without inane crap being posted.

Pre Sakura season, so not the greatest in terms of views. It can also (rarely) snow in tokyo.

Temperature lingers around 5 to 14 but when the sun is out, it feels much much warmer.
Stays rather dry with the odd rain.
etc etc, if there anything you would like to know more specifically ?

Thanks Shimy182, My research on the web suggests it is OK.. Cherry blossom on the trees, decent weather, etc...

Basically we have always wanted to go but held the flights as late as possible in 2012 on the basis they are very well priced.

In your opinion, are we better off going at another time and paying a much higher fare? or is there enough to do at that time of year (with the weather being what it is) to make it worthwhile? (Not the easiest question to answer I know!)

I guess if we head south, the weather may be better in March? I guess really we want an idea of what we can realistically expect to do in 11-12 days in March :)

Thanks

Pathetic troll comments?

Try having a laugh you stuck up freak.

Enjoy the radiation spewing all over your holiday :D

Wow there are some real idiots on these forums.

Thanks to those with the sensible replies thus far.

Well what?

The Japanese government claim they will get this situation under control for January however a lot of the qualified international community think otherwise.

It's still suffering explosions, oil and radioactive leaks.. there was a serious undertone to my joke in that I personally would be perhaps pensive on choosing that location now. Go later?

But if I'm an idiot for trying to have a joke with you, so be it. Enjoy your sushi. :)

Nothing better than gulping sake and eating japanese food under a well lit Sakura tree.

Tokyo is the same all around tbh, just the seasonal events there and here, but nothing much different. Event calender layout outside Tokyo is very very unpredictable. Just come for the march that you had planned, learn a thing or two about japan and replan a holiday :).
Heading south will indeed help but not by much ( i think) Im only from Tokyo, so im not well educated of local japanese cultures around the country.

Hope someone else can help out with your questions here :-P, Will be back when I remember more :)

That price is really good - I'm paying twice that for a trip in two weeks. March is supposed to be one of the best times to go too. I would go for it.

I assume you are flying Aeroflot?

Rather you than me. Often things are cheap for a reason... ;)

Yeah they're not that bad.... Air Europa, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Sri Lankan, and TAP are worse IMO. (I'm quite well travelled :) Writing this from a hotel in Malé now)

All Airbus fleet outside Russia, The airport in Moscow is a bit of a 'mare, but a lot of the haters are posting off hearsay and are best ignored :)

Cool thanks- We were planning to do a bit of an epic trip at some point, but this seems like a good opportunity to get a taster for the place. Think we will proceed as long as the wife's work let her have the time off...
