Anyone used a kit to convert the Maglite 4D into an LED torch?

I've seen bulbs on eBay for £5 and I wanted to know if anyone had any experience of doing this?

Makes them crap.

Well it did when I done it to my pencil AA one.

Link to the replacement LED(s)?

Expect a bunch of OCUK Torch people coming in and giving you a seriously disapproving look...

Plus also if you use the torch in dirty/work sort of conditions it doesn't take long for it to start to flake out.

The torch is 100% domestic use.

I want help from torch people to work out the best way to make the maglite LED.

Buy an official maglite LED buld conversion. I have a 3 D one with it in for work. It's excellent. Better than a cheap ebay bulb.

Mines been in the same torch for 5 years, it's used outside in all weathers for 2 nightshifts per week in all manner of conditions and the batteries last me 6 months at a time.

buy a surefire and never need another torch again

I want to keep the same torch, unless a surefire is cheaper than the maglite conversion kit?

I have a 3D but can't seem to find anywhere selling these conversion kits anymore. Amazon had one but the website can't confirm if it is likely to come back in stock.

*EDIT* - hmm found a couple but is as expensive now as buying a new Mag torch.

cheapest surefire ive seen is the g2 they are around 30-40
i have a a2 aviator on my rifle they are around 180 but you get what you pay for.very bright,but never shine on a white wall or a mirror ,it will daze you

you can also get a ed2 for just over 100 and they are spot on.can also be used for self defence.
