335i v 330i v 330d

HAHAH small world that is my car, I just dropped the price 500 pound before I put it on AT.

Lol really? That was one of the nice ones i've seen - exactly what i would be after. It's been up for a while IIRC, you not had any interest?

I only put up a premium advertisement a few days ago I had a couple of calls when I had the standard advertisement and only one offer of 15 500 from a dealer (birds bmw) the guy sounded like a plonker and knew nothing about that car. I almost did not want to sell it to him lol

I think it will probably sell once I get around to putting it on auto trader but I did not want to do that until I got it professionally cleaned.

I have ummed and arred about selling it a few times but I just cant find something good to replace it without spending silly money, so in the end I decided I would take my wifes Cab 335i and get her a 750i or something like that.

How is it doing for rattles and squeeks now its 4.5 years old?

I wish I didnt have irrational M Sport love. An SE would annoy me because it wouldnt be an M Sport, even though they are much better value :(

Are you having quite a lot of trouble selling it? As a buyer it would be nice to hear what its like as a seller right now ;)

I dont really know, as its only been up with a proper advertisement for 2 days. However I will put it up on AT and report back. However I hear its a bad time to sell but at the same time there is nothing good on the market. I have been searching for a good 750 or 650.... for ages and I just cant find anything.

This will be the first time I have sold a car privately, all my other cars have been bought by friends or clients (except the 318 which I traded in).

No rattles at all however the Milltek causes the sliding thing that cover the ashtray in the back to resonate. The milltek guy told me it can be sorted by putting some foam under the ashtray.

The one thing to look out for is that side bolsters on the seats become scuffed really easily. I (well my dad did at the time) bought the car 2 years ago with 17k on the clock and the bolsters looked quite bad so I had bmw replace them.

Also I would avoid getting a car with 19" alloys as both the style 230 and 225m crack very easily, I have had to replace the rear alloys on both of the cars so I finally gave up and put MV3's on which made the ride a lot better.

The M-Sport kit is a very nice addition - however the SE can be beefed up a bit for not a lot of money with a BMW Performance rear valance and front apron. I personally would be very happy with this along with the thousands i would save. Perhaps this is a mild form of pre purchase justification syndrome, but meh. However, you seem like you want the whole shabang for your money and without any compromise.

How much is each of the alloys? I assume you forked out for the alloys as BMW still maintain that there is nothing wrong with the 19" alloys (even though they've quietly discarded them, and replaced them with those new double spoke ones IIRC).

Have you had any problems with the car?

I agree, the M-Sport looks MUCH better, this is why when I bought my wife's car I just bought a SE and paid 1k to have a OEM M-Sport kit fitted to it.

I think I paid around 3k less then the equivalent E93 335i M-sport. However if I went back in time I would probably just save the money and fit the front Aero kit as it would only cost around 300 quid and looks very good.

I think each alloy was around 400 pounds but the problem is that I also replaced my tyres so it got quite expensive considering I had to do both cars. I managed to get BMW to pay me back in the end but I still had to pay for the tyres.

The other problem is that the 19"s seem to suffer form inside edge tyre wear, the middle and outside edge are generally fine but the inside can be completely bald

My car has not had any major problems in the last 2 years except the Navi, it kept throwing Disc read error so bmw replaced it after a couple of visits to the dealer.

Lol!! that is a coincidence.

Looks like a very well maintained vehicle from the photos. One of my favourite colours too.

Yah I love the colour combo, funny thing is that my wifes car had the exactly same colour combo but she hated it so replaced the wood with CF and wrapped the car in Satin black.

The car has been well taken car of but its picked up a few stone chips because its spent quite a lot of time on the motorway between london and Sheffield at 99 mph :)

I was flipping through the motoring mags yesterday and I noticed that "Total BMW Magazine" are doing a feature in their July issue specifically on buying 2nd hand 335i's.

Im not familiar with that magazine, but could be interesting.

The magazine is out June 17.

Just a general question really.

Does the ride differ much between the saloon and the coupe?

How about between SE and M-Sport. Because on the M-Sports there looks to be very little suspension travel, and skinny tyres. The ride must be quite crashy no?

This is becoming a common problem. Do I really need an M Sport when an SE might suffice? Take the F10 5er, the M Sport version can still be spec'd with the dynamics package, which makes the car better to drive and handle than the standard M Sport.

That has to beg the question, what then, is there to differentiate between the SE and Sport both with dynamic drive, other than a bumper and wheels and a few "M" decals?

I was set on a 335i before getting my new car. I drove and looked at a number of 335i's and came to the conclusion that I would be happy to buy an SE providing it had the right extras (leather, nav and nice alloys) as the main M Sport thing I was interested in was the sports suspension.
Suspension's the same in the SE and M Sport 335i isn't it?

The number of exec cars without sat nav spec'd is quite frankly shocking. I drove 3 hours up to Norwich last night, and the number of 3/5 series, C/E class and A4/A6's I saw with satnavs stuck to their screens was shocking. Hazard a guess and a fair few of these being non company cars too, I feel the only justification for this is people buying these cars new and thinking "oh, I got given that 'insert satnav name here' for Christmas so don't need to spec nav".

This makes me sad :(
German cars require many options. This has always been the case, and always will be.
Our GT came with £40,000 worth of options out of the factory.

The problem is that most of the manufacturers SATNAVs are a £1500 option, where a TOMTOM is better and £150!!

That said I would always want SATNAV in a BMW as obviously the screen is also needed for things like IDrive etc, no SATNAV usually means no other nice toys ;)

Your what? 5GT? £40ks worth of options? Is that even possible?

Base spec without options probably looks like this ;)
