8 weeks smoke free

good good, so ive been smoking now for around 13-14 years, non stop.

I presume you felt health benefits as if you stopped smoking?

Sorry for the questions but just want this to work.

well that does not seem to be the whole story with e-cigs. Then there is the problem that Vegetable Glycerin Heated at 280 deg C decomposes to acrolein,

Acrolein is a severe pulmonary irritant and lacrimating agent. It has been used as a chemical weapon during World War I. It is, however, not outlawed by the Chemical Weapons Convention. Acrolein is also a metabolite of the chemotherapy drug cyclophosphamide, and is associated with hemorrhagic cystitis. Skin exposure to acrolein causes serious damage. Acrolein concentrations of 2 ppm are immediately harmful. Acrolein is a suspected human carcinogen.[6] [7] In October 2006, researchers found connections between acrolein in the smoke from tobacco cigarettes and the risk of lung cancer.[8]

what is everyones view on this? who here smokes VG and/or PG? any associated side effects and how long have you been smoking?

I've been on E-cigs for 18 months, no real side effects.

I read that about Acrolein somwhere before, you'd be right to be concerned, it concerns me for sure.

Though it still pales in comparison to what I left behind, over 20 years smoking the oft quoted '4000+chemicals' released in lit cigarettes.

So, in view of the infancy of the product, and the lack of tests on them by anyone without vested interests, I consider E-cigs not to be healthy, but certainly not as bad as my previous habit.

Yup, I don't cough up brown stuff anymore and I don't feel sick all the time. I'm still out of shape, but that's more down to spending all my time on my pc lol. Gonna have to start cycling again

right, first day vaping (from 3:30pm...dam slow RM). Flavor, well its most certainly not the same as my GV but it actually has a nice nutty after taste, will do for me!

Throat hit...still learning the device but got the mix right for when i want a stronger sensation, its different from smoking however its also as close to it as i have come from nicotine inhalers etc.

Cravings...well even though im only on 14mg (used to smoke 20 a day so should have chosen 18mg+) im doing well and the cravings are being satisfied.

I notice i use it less, maybe 4-5 good pulls then i put it down again in a hour to a hour and a half, used to almost smoke every hour when at home at night so mostly my smoking was done from 5pm - whenever i went to bed. I am not sure if im just not using it much as im a little afriad still of the side effects (stupid considering you know whats in tobacco) but i think its the unknown factor thats sitting in the back of my head...maybe with time etc it will get better.

Smell....i still think i smell bad as the flavor i get is strong and you would assume the smell would be strong, especially in the mouth but the mrs assures me i dont smell at all...good stuff.

So far, its doing a fine job, the other night i was ready to look for dog ends...now im not even thinking about it.

Have to thank Pestilence and Devrij mainly for the contribution to this thread and answering my many questions.

Just one more, i have put maybe 3 drops in since 7ish and im happy with the strength..is there a set amount to drop in or can i just go on as i am and will i notice a taste difference when there is nothing there etc?

cheers

EDIT: I still go outside to do all my vaping, it just doesnt seem right to do it indoors....must get my head right and remember its not tobacco smoke!

Glad you're getting on well. You'll notice a slightly burnt taste or lack of vapour when you're getting dry. Too much juice will "flood" the atty, which also gives a lack of vapour, but without the burnt taste. With practice you'll soon be able to tell when you need a top up. Despite the taste, you won't smell, big win with my missus!

I also tend to vape more often, but less than I smoked. You'll find a routine that works for you. I found the 11mg juice quite strong at first, even as a 15 a day smoker, but now I vape a bit more I've gotten used to it and it suits me quite well. Some people prefer it stronger but its all a matter of preference. I got little 10ml bottles of different flavours, one safe one experimental (eg lime or Apple) until I settled on my all day juice. I still have a full bottle of vanilla that was too sweet for more than 2 hits lol

Good to hear that you're getting on well with it!

If you're starting off by filling the carts or dripping onto the filler (ie. putting a few drops directly on the white stuff and letting it soak in for a few minutes) I'd recommend the following:

1. Filling the cart itself:
First, remove the white filler from inside the cart. Drip about 10 drops of liquid into the space inside the cart. If should end up being about 3/4 full. Use tweezers or a toothpick to slowly push the filler back into the cart. It'll immediately start soaking up the liquid. Top it off with 2 or 3 drops straight to the top of the filler now that it's back in. Give that about 3 mins to soak in, then pop the cart on your atomiser and you're good to go for, roughly, 20 long puffs or so I reckon.

2. Dripping onto the filler (not filling the cart as well):
Drip about 3 drips and let it soak in for 4 or 5 mins. Repeat until the filler is wet, but there's no liquid "pooling" on top of it. Pop that on your atomiser, and puff away until you notice that the flavour is absent/extremely weak, or you get a burnt taste instead.

Now, there's also method 3 - my favourite - Direct Dripping:

Remove the filler from your cart. Drip 3 drops of liquid STRAIGHT onto the bridge inside the atomiser (the big cone-shaped metal bit you see when you look it). Give that about 10 secs to soak, then pop your empty cart on and vape away.

Every 3 drops will give you about 5 or 6 nice puffs. You'll notice when the liquid has run out as you'll get an awful burnt taste instead of your usual. To me, that's almost a "cigarette", so to speak. So if you're out and about - 3 drips, puff that dry, putt it away and there's your smoke had.

You'll also know when you've dripped too much as it'll likely flood out through where the battery meets the atomiser, or you'll get a mouth full of liquid when the juice fails to vaporise quickly enough. Not nice, and takes some practice, but it's worth it!

The Double Flavour range from OK Smokey are great, particularly the Drum and Golden Virginia flavours. Their Mint flavour is also knock-your-socks-off good. Tastes just like vaping mint imperials, or polo mints. Freakin' awesome.

Quite like Liberty Flights' Menthol Tobacco as well.

You'll get used to the inside vaping. I only had my first astonished publican last night, I then had the opportunity to tell her about vaping as it turns out she smoked. no one else seems to notice or they just assume it must be okay. The idea of having to go outside for a smoke seems like a lot of hassle now. It's certainly exciting at first when you think everyone will acost you, but if you want to play it safe I sometimes explain to the bar staff when I buy my first round, as a "just in case you were wondering" measure.

all i can say is im impressed, it really is keeping all the issues i have with quitting at bay. I have a love/hate relationship with cigs, i love them but hate the fact i smoke at the same time.

going well, wish i looked into this before.

Same here, i came across e-cigs by the way of them company's selling the sub-par e-cigs for stupid £ so i decided to look in to it deeper, best thing i did found a real alternative to smoking and like you wish i had discovered it sooner :)

still going well, not touched a cig since.

How long do the 510 carts last?

I bin em after say 4-5 days not bad for £1.50 ish some ppl boil them and reuse them but i never found them good after a boil.......each to there own :)
Just had some new juice delivered " vermillion river range" wow what taste :) atm on kentucky premium blend (tobbacco) my new all day vape and caramalized cappuccino (yummy)

I used mine for ages, as long as you give them a rinse and keep them clean they're usually fine. When they start to look a bit tatty then its time to bin them.
