We are nearly finished decorating our garage. It's in a seperate block to our flat. It's got a solar power system with a large RV battery running 8 downlights on a suspended ceiling, a 24" 12V LED TV and an iPod dock. 12v fans on the way too.

We are converting it to a gym/cycle turbo training area. Want to put down some rubber tiles, struggling to find anything which looks nice (i.e. a bit of colour not black, grey or blue perhaps) which doesnt cost a stupid amount per m^2. Normally I would be generally agnostic to cost, but we've just spent >£30,000 refurbishing ;-)

Anyone got any suggestions? It's 5m x 3m.

thats a lot of refurbishment money for a small garage. I hope you have some amazing kit in there to make it worth it!

Anyway, matting isn't cheap, though tbh its a garage and has a solid floor, so you wont need much in terms of anything really special.

You could try http://www.softfloor.co.uk/ and go for the Gym mats, couple of colours to choose from, and would do the 15m floor for £540. Not a lot when compared to what you have already spent. Also, do you need to do the whole floor? Matting under turbo trainers might be a bit wobbly, surely better off direct on the floor?

£30k is for the flat, garage hasn't been too much (prob just short of £1k perhaps)

Indeed, but we want it to be a bit more "homely" with a softer floor

Will have a look..We've found the turbos okay on a soft surface (we have 2 Tacx satoris running currently in our spare room on a gym floor mat)

Someone recommended looking into the stuff used in horse tables, it's the same stuff but cheper afaik.

I'd highly recommend "128 square feet MARTIAL ARTS GYM JUDO INTERLOCKING BLUE 32 MATS". Do a quick Google and you can buy it now ;)

They do other colours as well.

I bought two packs and they're great.

I train bare feet on them in my loft so perfect if you just want some cheap flooring.

I'd agree here, this is what I used for my garage gym - does the job absolutely fine.
