Hey guys

I have my 6600 running at 3.0ghz on the stock fan. I am guessing the heatsink is OK but I really wanted to upgrade the fan so it has the best possible air. Could anyone link me to a good cooler for this CPU? I dont mind spending between £30-£40 but don't really want to go over that mark.

Thanks a lot guys :)

i think you can pick up a decent watercooling kit for £40-45 on overclockers. If i owned a Q6600 i would go for watercooling over air cooling.

Hmmm I never thought about water cooling. To be honest I also have no idea what to buy :(

I dont mind stretching to £45 if I can get a water cooled system. But I wont be going over 3.0ghz and 100% stress test has this in the mid to high 50's temp wise.

a q6600 is fine upto the mid 70's.C, also remember that will be under stress testing, day to day running will be around 10-20.C cooler,

regarding water cooling, you will not get a proper water cooling setup for less than £150 at least.
the corsair H50 is at ocuk for £50 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-002-CS&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395
but a high end air cooler will beat it.
the hyper 212+ is a popular option, which is about £20.
i would also recommend the Prolimatech Megahalems Rev B CPU Cooler but its £48

edit. wait until 'super tuesday' as you get good discounts.
last tuesday the H50 was only £35 http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18281244
