I'm using 3G Watchdog + APNDroid. It has a little widget you can tap to turn data on or off. Useful for saving battery when i know i'm not going to be near a charger for a while or just plain don't need data eating my battery.

3G Watchdog is the best one out there.
I just hate that mobile providers think that 500MB is enough for a smartphone user.

I'm finding 500mb more than enough actually! I've not felt at all 'restricted' in how i use it and i've only amassed around 250mb this month. It's only when tethering that i saw my usage shoot up in a worrying manner.

I've used 1.2GB so far this month, anticipating a healthly bill at the end

Think I may need to buy a permanant bolt on for the future...

500MB is ok for just browsing websites - but add a few youtube videos and it soon goes over.
