Looking for a thin, lightweight portable laptop

I'm looking for a laptop to replace my netbook (I have a desktop for gaming; so that's not an issue).

I'm not really sure what's out there for laptops and I'm having trouble finding the sort of thing I need.

I want it to have:
-11" to 13" screen
-2GB RAM
-Dual core (I'm fixated on Intel's line here TBH; the ultra low voltage line seems like a good bet)
-Battery life of at least 7 hours when browsing the web/word processing while connected to WiFi
-Lightweight; definitely not more than 2KG and preferably closer to 1.5KG
-Thin

Ideally I'd want around a 60GB SSD but I'm prepared to install one myself if needs be, I can sell the laptop HDD. Also, Windows is not required but unfortunately all I can find is laptops with Windows on... would have liked to have saved £50 here:(.

Budget; well I don't really want to spend more than £500 but could go to £600 if it's something I really like. I've seen the Alienware M11x at £500 (great value!!) but this seems like overkill as I don't need the discrete graphics and the case is a bit garish. I thought if that was £500 then surely I'd be able to find something a bit cheaper without the extras I don't need?

I got the Asus UL30a recently.

Brilliant laptop, really light and lasts for ages! (depends on the battery you get, some different configs about).

Paid £349.99 for it, really happy with it.

Looks like exactly what I need, unfortunately I can't find it anywhere in stock online and looks like it's been discontinued (it did come out over a year ago!). There must be something similar out there?

UL30A-QX328V

If you type that in Google and go to the 3rd one down (SaveOn...). Dunno if I can say it, but they have it in stock. I got it from there, really good service.

Its an 8 cell, but the capacity is something like 4800mah, so it doesn't achieve the times quoted in the reviews of the UL30.

But I get around 6-7hrs out of web browsing, Youtube etc.

Acer Aspire Timeline 1830T
Intel Core i3-380UM Dual Core
4GB
640GB
11.6 inch
1.35kg
8 hour battery life

£490, faster, lighter and smaller than the Asus but obviously a bit more pricey.

Thanks; but I ordered the Asus earlier. Bought an SSD for £90 to go with it so should have both tomorrow!

That's what I have on my UL30A (PB-J22 128GB SSD). Works a treat. Put in AHCI mode, and re-installed Win 7 using a retail home premium DVD, an external USB drive (although you can use a USB key with win 7 on it as well) and the OS key from the bottom of the laptop, installed all drivers from the Asus website.

I've got the full fat batteries, and it's an all day computer. I never switch it off actually, it holds batteries really well while sleeping.

Haven't even used the HD, so it is still at 'factory default'.
