netto axle stands.

I smell a bit of brand snobbery (typical of this board). There is probably nothing wrong with these stands and they will most likely meet all safety standards.

:)

I don't think it is brand snobbery, more that people don't want to dangle a huge weight over their head on the basis of "probably" and "most likely" for the sake of a few quid.

Stuff the nay-sayers.

I've been using almost identical stands that I got from Lidl for years and I'm more than happy to get under a tonne and a half of metal with them supporting. Too many people risk it just underneath trolley jacks, or even worse the crap ones that come in boots, in my mind having any sort of stand is a bonus.

I'm definitely interested at £1 for 2. I do like my bargains (even if my life expectancy might be drastically reduced in the process :D). I'm even going to break my rule of never travelling to peckham unless absolutely necessarily in the hunt for these :).

Is it me or is the old Joshy back lately. :(

What 'Old Joshy'?

I think my points are perfectly valid.

* I do have a near identical set from Lidl which haven't caused be any issues over the course of the last few years supporting my car which isn't light by stretch of the imagination

* Many people do risk getting underneath cars supported by just jacks. Any stands are better than no stands.

* Peckham is... Well, Peckham.

Where's the issue exactly?

Just buy 8 of them to mitigate the risk from the shonky looking design. Would still be cheap at the current prices. ;)

Not sure I would want to get under my car with only one on each corner.

Phil how are you not dead yet? I thought you would have had an astra fall on you by now...

I'd not use them myself lol

the car im going to give my lass when she passes needs a new/replacement shock, her test is in a few weeks so need to get it done soonish.
i might survive!

I remember being under James old T5 blanking off the recirc, With only a scissor jack holding the thing up.. Ahh those where the days, What it was to be young and stupid lol

yea i always do anyways. my dads a mechanic and is pretty strict on teaching me saftey.

Yet you buy the cheapest arsed set of axle stands you could find and not because you actually needed them but because "they might come in useful" at some undetermined date in the future???

Does not compute.
Put the things on ebay for £5 more than you paid for, add a bit extra on for postage and forget the idea of buying such cheap **** in future.

*Note to your dad...
TRY HARDER

ahh the red v70 had a lush sounding dump valve, did he go for the broom handle blocking the air recuitic route when he did it?

Nah had a proper blanking plate, Was abit of a bitch to fit. Sounded nice at the time lol. Not sure now. Saw it the other week.

i remember fitting andys dump valve in my street in the pitch black on the S14. he did opt for the broom handle route, we used like 4 jubilee clips for good messure. i was really expecting the thing to get sucked in the engine :S

It's not like you have a whole car on one though is it?! Even with a two tonne car, it's only half a tonne on the stand. I would guess (maybe not with my life) that to be sold i the UK, a stand rated to 2 tons should be ok with 500kg on it.
