I don't post much but am pretty shook up

worked at this site for 14 months on placement, feel so lucky that I'm not involved in this but am worried for all my friends that work on site.

My thoughts go out to everyone involved xxx

No doubt it will come back to cutting maintenance or lacking of money going into safety while profits soared.

Or an equipment malfunction or operator error.

I was on the site yesterday but left before it happened, I heard the blast and saw the smoke billowing in to the sky, after this all I could hear for hours were sirens from emergency vehicles.

It was one of the large tanks that exploded during maintenance.

Sister works for chevron and was on site when it happened.

I only live across the water, could see the aftermath, was absolutely terrified and couldn't get hold of her. Was delighted when I had a text saying she was fine but absolutely devastated for the families and friends of the four who didn't return home that night.

Will be an accumulation of fumes which ignited due to the maintenance causing an explosion then fire.
