Best phone upgrade from HTC Desire......

I assume the "Super AMOLED+" screen is superior?? Must admit, one of the other things that bugs me about my Desire is that its rubbish in sunlight! Is the S2 better in this regard?

Yes, it is superior on the whole, I don't think anyone will argue against that the Super AMOLED+ is clearly better than the screen on the Sensation.

Other than this, the only other issue might be the size as it looks quite a bit larger!?! Although that comparison website mentioned above seems to suggest the S2 is slightly smaller than the standard Desire!?!?

No, it is quite a bit bigger than the Desire, I'll try and find a comparison picture Khaaan! on here took next to an iPhone 4. (Here it is)

It should be quite a bit better in sunlight too, yes.

Can anyone point me towards a decent deal for the S2? (if allowed - not sure where OCUK stand on mobiles!)

Thanks again guys........

Contract deals? www.buymobilephones.net and www.mobiles.co.uk are the best places, have a look around there.

I came from a launch day Desire to a S II and can say I made the best choice. Sold the Desire for £150 and got a S II for a total of £270 ish over 2 years. Good time to upgrade that's for sure :)

The Sensation is nice, but to me it isn't as awesome as the S II.

StevieP I had a HTC Desire and loved it...I then upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S 2 and I have not looked back since.
I was saying i like this about my HTC Desire i like that about my HTC Desire, now i dont even think about it anymore.
I sometimes compare the two side by side and have no wish to go back there again it IS a good phone but the Samsung Galaxy S 2 is way better trust me. Your going to like the way the SGSII does things better than how the HTC Desire did it.

Unless you really love HTC Sense, the samsung galaxy s II is the best phone out there at the moment.

eBay is fine for selling phones, but most people flog them to mates I think.

i've moved from a desire to an sgs2, absolutely huge upgrade. I've since started using my desire again as a work phone until my iphone 4 comes, and it's actually slightly frustrating to use now :D

Also, despite being bigger, it being only 60% as thick and 20g lighter mean it feels smaller in almost every given situation, except when you're looking at stuff on the screen :) I've actually tried to find my phone on a few occasions now to only realise it's still in my pocket.

I've had a quick go with an S2 in a shop this morning and must say I'm well impressed! :)

My contract with o2 is up in September but as I'm a "Gold Tier" customer (whatever that means) I can apparently upgrade on the 23rd June!! :D

Just hope they offer me a good deal on this handset!

ps. is "sense" the GUI on the Android phones? I tend to use Launcher Pro on my Desire anyway - is that different and can it be used on the Samsung?

for most intents and purposes launcher pro replaces sense and touchwiz(samsungs verison of sense), my desire and sgs2 look pretty much identical from a UI PoV now, only the dialer gives it away as being different.
