EA to unveil Origin

it just sounds like EADM crossed with GFWL.
Neither of which are as good as steam.
If origin is only going to support EA games, then it will always be inferior to steam.
I'd imagine though if it is only going to support future ea titles for exclusive digital distro, most people who don't buy hardcopys won't have a choice.

Anyone know if existing EADM purchases can be downloaded through it?

Wouldn't mind actually using it before defaulting to the "lolEA" stance that most people seem to have adopted. ;)

Or is this just a rebranding of the existing EADM and friends features that they've been rolling out recently, and thus another non-story?

For some reason I interpreted this thread as EA bringing back Origin Systems Inc... I thought I'd come in to laugh, but was initially disappointed. Then I saw it was actually EA's attempt at becoming a Steam rival and then really started laughing. :p

EA have always been the (insert filthy depraved metaphor here) of PC gaming, and now people are going to trust them with their game collections. Are people just plain stupid? We should be finding ways to bring them down, not throwing more money at them. The mind boggles.

I could just see ME 3 and ToR being tied to this, perhaps as an exclusive? They've got nowt to lose by doing it.

I guess I won't be buying ToR or ME3 or DA3 or any other Bioware game. I'll do without the extra weapon or map buying BF3 off this store will give me.

if valve use ea for marketing/production (they use ea to push the disk retail versions out) will valve games be on this new ea service?! lol

Question is: will you be able to use games you buy retail with the online downloader a la valve? Hmm

They want 39.99 for bf3.

I loke EA Store and haved used quite a few times so if Origin is as fast at downloading as EA Store (whish is a lot faster than Steam) and it gives Steam a bit of competition then i'm game

Probably explains why theres no BF3 on Steam yet too
