Recently did a new build and plans were to do some gaming with it. I got the Gigabyte GTX480 soc from OcUK but sent it back due to artifacting so I am looking for a new card.

Been considering Gigabyte HD6950 2GB - GV-R695D5-2GD-B

Are these flashable? Not to keen on the cooling as I have heard they can be loud but it is under £185 so might jump on it depending what you guys say.

Rest of spec is.
2600K
P67a-UD4-B3
8gb XMS3
HX620
Vertex 2E
1900x1200 res

This says they're flashable, but whether or not Gigabyte have done a second revision, I'm not sure.

Edit~ from a quick google, it doesn't seem that anyone's had a problem with flashing the GB 6950

Thanks guys,

Considering a wanted thread for a GTX480 SE and if I don't hear anything will get the GB 6950..

I honestly wouldn't. I went from 6970 to 480 SOC and didn't regret it one bit. My 6970 was crap in every aspect compared to the 480.

Any reason you want to change? is your SOC faulty?

I sent it back due to artifacting, had to run it at 760 core to get it stable.. Currently using a HD4350 until I get a replacement!!!

If you still want a cool & quiet 480 for some massive overclocking how about what i did?

Asus 480 £220

Zalman cooler £36

Not such a good deal as when i got my 480 under £200 tho. :(

Still cheaper than the 480SOC at current prices! ;)

That's what I did. Now running 1.138v at 870mhz core. Fan speed is permanently set at below 50% so I cant hear it ever. Idles at 35-38C and loads at 55-65C dependant on game.
