Doctor Who

Steven Moffat said that when he came in, none of the recurring characters from Russell T. Davies time as writer would be reappearing... Which would mean 'Jenny' won't be coming back...

I didn't like the start, it felt too much like one of the RTD fan-service episodes, where they just bring back old characters for the sake of going "LOOK A SILURIAN REMEMBER THEM LOL", the initial attack just felt far too easy and quick (though I get that it was a trap, but it was still a bit of an anti-climax), and it was another piece of Doctor Who hyperbole with the "You'll never rise so high" line (yeah, that was a real tough piece of work to mug the stupid humans in three minutes).

But overall, it was all good. They might not be great at it yet, but hats off to them for giving the idea of proper story arcs a go with the new series.

Jenny wasn't a recurring character, and you did notice the Sontaran character from Tennant's doctor's time in this episode, right? ;)

Very good episode, but mid season break :(

If you can call seven episodes a season... oh
wait... The first season of The Walking Dead was six episodes long.

It's more like two mini series.

I enjoyed the episode, although as with most 'two parters' the first part is all build up. None of the twists were really that shocking tbh as the pieces were all there for those who wanted to put them together.

Although, i was surprised by the baby being a Flesh copy i have to say. I think the fact that the Flesh copy of Amy had already been destroyed in the previous episode, lured me into a false sense of security for that particular avenue.

- I liked the fact that Rory got the chance to be a bit more...heroic shall we say. More fighting Rory and less idiot please DW writers.

- The part with the cyberman at the start was kind of pointless. I expect they decided to use them because it was easier than thinking of something original, and they had all those costumes to use.

- Was i the only one that got annoyed at the commander guy saying 'You guys!' to his soldiers? (unless he's a distant descendant of Sloth from The Goonies) It sounded so stupid. Whatever happened to men! or soldiers!? Sounded so out of place.

Oh well thats another sci fi show thats been cancelled/finished it's run for the moment. So what's left..

Let’s see there’s Sanctuary, and then there’s……Sanctuary…and there’s….no, just Sanctuary

The Science Fiction Calender is looking mighty barren of late..

@ Weebull, i would guess that Moffat could have been referring to character's Davies created

Must admit I liked the intro - the bit where Rory was in the Cyberman space ship and they asked what is the Doctors Message? (won't spoil it for those that may have recorded it) and Rory says "Do you want me to repeat it? :)

I loved that bit, more of this sort of Rory please!!!

Indeed, Rory the wimp isn't very interesting. His character was a lot bolder this episode and the scene and the beginning was very good.

Great episode, and a great return to form :)
Who wrote this one by the way? I missed the credits.

I guess it kind of makes sense her being the daughter, also, as mentioned above, skin tone means nothing as we have already seen her regenerate at least once. She's always been able to go in and out of prison very easily, almost like she tries to respect the fact she is a criminal but at the same time the prison know they have no hold over her. Only a time lord can have that much freedom. She killed a good man, we saw the space suit kill the doctor and amy's daughter was in the spacesuit.

She was conceived in a vortex so got 'time' in her DNA. The silence have long been around amy and the silence were protecting the baby.

I think more interesting things are to come, obviously we can't let the doctor die, we need a story to explain that away, and we need to find out just who was in charge of capturing the child and keeping it in the silences protection. We also need to know what drives melody to kill the doctor.

Moffat himself according to Wikipedia. He wrote the opening two episodes, this one and the next as well as the series ending episode. Makes sense that the lead writer and executive producer of the show would write the important episodes. I'm guessing that RTD probably didn't write the middle episodes of his series but then they never split those series in two.
