Also - interesting to see how debts are dealt with stateside - seems it isn't private bailiffs but rather Sheriffs deputies tasked with enforcement - I'm guessing there is much less messing around with them involved.

Actually, not so. During the 'penalty charges' cases of recent years, several times the banks 'forgot' to pay up after a claimant obtained judgment by default. The bailiffs were brought in to the branch on at least one occasion that I'm aware of personally, and the bank promptly settled their debt. Fun times.

EDIT: Oh for... lol Yes, beaten. BringTheRain, it's true - that bailiff story I mean. I was involved in the cases at the time (working with Stephen Hone, the solicitor trainee who set the whole movement off), and this episode provided great delight to the team!
