Having some money as a birthday gift (£100) and wanting to know what would be a worthwhile investment for my computer or accessories currently I have come up with the Corsair HS1a Headset and a Razer Deathadder w/boogie mat as my mouse and headset are really not so good. Although I still want some suggestions for something or things I will enjoy, if this helps my specs are:

AMD Athlon II quad core 640 (3ghz)
4GB Ram
500GB HDD
MSI 870-C45 AMD 770 Chipset

Get an SSD you won't regret it.
Amazing instant performance increase across the board. The best upgrade I ever made when I bought my 1st one. SSD's really are that good!

Are you saying your mouse mat / mouse aren't so good? Sorry, it's late for me! That's a lot of smash that can be spent on games if your rig is up to it :)

If not, maybe keep it as the start of a nest egg for the near future - new technology is always pushing current prices down. Perhaps there is and aspect/area of your set up which could do with a spruce up... save your pennies and splurge for something epic :D

Tbh, i'd go with a 60gb agility 3... 5 times the speed of a hdd instead of 2

1/2 capacity, and he doesn't have SATA 3. But 60 GB SSD is quite enough as an OS drive. 120GB leaves a lot of room for quite a few games and apps.

The leap between a Vertex and a HDD is massive. The leap between a Vertex 120GB and a agility 3 60GB isn't so much.

In the benches he Corsair Nova is roughly similar to the Vertex 1st generation (indillix barefoot).

Would also help if you told us what you use your PC for and what you think its limitations are that you are wanting to overcome.

This is a very good point, I do a lot video editing and rendering which brings in the question if an extra 4gb of ram will benefit me much? My card isn't such an issue as I only play on a 18.5" monitor. The reason why I went for the mouse and headset route is because mine are really not up to scratch but I still feel like some money can be spent elsewhere.

Thanks

If low boot times and programme loading times are important to you then go for SSD.

If your mainly a gamer and loading times don't bother you put it towards a new decent 24" monitor or decent peripherals.

Yeah, SSDs are pretty amazing but everyone has different priorities. I'd personally go for peripherals or monitor!

I love my 64GB Crucial M4 in my HTPC but my main system is usually switched on only once a day and when not using it it's asleep or in hibernation.
