Hello!

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good insurers for TVR's? I don't think mainstream insurance sites are where I should be looking. :)

I'm just curious how much it would cost me, but at the moment I'm not able to get a clear picture as I'm getting wildly varying results for the same details, prices anywhere from £1,300 - £5,500!

Normally, I'd just ring up my normal insurer (Greenlight) but they don't do cover for TVR's. (Maybe that is a subtle hint to give up!) :p

Thanks.

Try Ruby insurance. They don't seem to show up on comparison sites and specialise in high risk performance and exotic stuff. Well worth a shot.

Manning seem like specialists, give them a call.

And try from the following list:

brentacre
keith michaels
a-plan
sky
hic - herts insurance
warwick davis
Adrian Flux
competition car insurance
Lancaster
Nowell and Rich
Basildon
Lifesure
tett hamilton
rh
lancaster
peter best
heritage
noel dazely
graham sykes
footman james

No problem, they are a sponsor of the Porsche Boxa.net forums and also post there, they seem to give decent quotes compared to the big boys. I will be looking at them come time to change the insurance on my car, it's new so I am just lasting out my old policy before I change. Not only that but it looks like it will be cheaper. :)

Pistonheads have a good thread and will be muuuch more suited to TVR questions than here!

Will find out who my friend uses to insure his Cerbera.

How old are you and whats your situation, do you have previous RWD and powerful car experience?

From memory his is around £600 FC and he is 29 with plenty of years NCB.

Ruby have done me a spot on quotation, so now I just need to have a serious think about if I want to go ahead. I may have to wait until my current policy is up for renewal so that I don't loose this years NCB. But apart from that thank you Vince!

@Berger, I think what helps is the fact I spoke to a real person. Explained everything in detail with the chap on the phone and couldn't believe the price. Very pleased. Just over £700 FC. :D

Thanks to everyone for the other suggestions as well.

Another Vote for Mannings, had mine insured there for the last 2 years. Cover includes european trips and track days.

Thats good stuff they do seem spot on for anything performance. They are uk based as well so you always know what you get when you give them a call. Other good news is that from all the posts I have read they are also very good at handling claims should the worst happen.

Question is are you going to get the car? :)

I was looking at the Chim. Either the 4.0HC or the 4.5l to give comparable performance (bhp/lbft wise) to my current motor. :) Seen some nice examples, but the 4.5l seems hard to come by. Mostly just regular 4.0l ones kicking about.

Cool.. I've got a mate in Durham with the 5.0l

I've got a T350t with 4.0 RR engine :)

mmmm nice! I do like TVR's... Don't forget to post some pics up once you've got it on the drive :D
