just bought a road leal quad, anyone else into it?

I haven't got one at the mo (don't live in the countryside anymore) but have had a lot of fun with ATVs over the years. Get it off road (by all means ride safely on the road to get there :)) and have fun with it. Stay within your limits though as quads (and three wheelers which I rode for many years too) can really bite. Once you get some skills you will tear it up.

Have to admit, if I see one of these on the road I think ... that can't be legal, surely?

IMO if you can bump it and it dies, it shouldn't be legal. Same applies to bikes, motorbikes, quads, grannie rollers, etc.

It was more aimed at Lopez saying that every one who drives one is a chav, or a nutter.
That's not what I said. I said every one I've seen is being ridden by a chav or a nutter, I wouldn't want to generalise, I can only comment on what I've seen on the roads.

Fair enough, point still stands though, there's at least one of them out there who isn't a tit :D

I loathe these things. I've ridden one offroad and whilst it was fun, it was nowhere near as fun as a scram.. But that's besides the point, I see quite a few on the road, and every single one is driven by a complete *** stain, missing some sort of component from the exhaust and generally just trying to **** everyone off as much as humanly possible.

My last house was in the middle of a very long fairly large road, so people accelerate hard along there constantly, getting up quite a speed before hitting a fast bend. When bikes come past I couldn't help but wait for a loud bang, and think to myself 'don't crash out bro, slow down'. But when quads came by, oh so frequently, bombing past at 300dB I actively wanted to hear them crash out, I feel bad for saying it, but there we go. They're the most obnoxious pointless anti-social thing on the road. Welcome to everyone on the road hating you OP, aside from the chav kids, who will admire you. Drive safely!.

Do some of the quads not have speed sensitive steering to help reduce the amount of issues with people driving too fast and rolling them on the road? I used to drive a Honda Big Red quad for a while including on roads (not public roads though) and I was told that was a feature - it might have been psychosomatic but it certainly felt a whole lot more difficult to turn at speed.

They can be lots of fun but it would also be true to say that most of the people I've seen driving quads about town have been acting like planks - hopefully that doesn't apply here.

Quad bike in Ensenada, Mexico, ride on the road going through the town on the way to the MASSIVE mountain range outside of the city for a 3 hour long safari through the range and quarries waving at fellow Baja holiday makers on the way = Brill

Quad bike riding around the UK on the roads = tit

Wouldn't the tyres you'd need for off road use be ruined by the road, and vice versa the tyres for the road be crap offroad, unless you tow a trailer there to the off road spot?

I've got 9 points! I can't afford to drive like a nutter :)

I just want something fun which I can use off road, I'm thinking a Quad or a Beach Buggy as I live on the coast.

Question is am I legally allowed to drive a beach buggy on the beach?

Thanks :)

Some beaches will let you. You just have to check before hand, each has their own rules.

Its got tyres on it for off road and on road use. Of course not going to be the best as a dedicated tyre. However it will suit my needs perfectly.

I really cant wait :). No flip flops or shorts from me.

So you would only allow cars, vans, lorries and buses on the road?

Even then small cars are a bit dodgy I'd have thought, something like a G-Wizz isn't likely to hold up to a bump as well as a bigger car. And you'd probably have to rule out a lot of older cars and exotica come to think of it.

Saw a couple of quads on the road yesterday and neither of the riders had helmets on. My reaction on both occasions was "What a ****".
