We can never allow ourselves to forget. It is important that we remember, and to teach those who don't know.

RIP to all lives lost today.

Off topic ramble:

Again this year, every ****ing year.

The D Day stuff reminds me more that I'm about to miss my mother's birthday.

Thanks for posting this up as a reminder for those who might have forgotten and to show those who wouldn't otherwise know. I'm a little bit surprised that Google didn't think this was worth commemorating - they put up notifications for things that are far less noteworthy.

I know it's from WWI but I think Laurence Binyon's For The Fallen is a powerful reminder of the sacrifice these men have made.

Perhaps because the 67th year isn't a 'big one'? Just a guess. 75th will be a proper 'celebration', probably.

Makes you wonder how bad our army would be if we had to do this again with our lazy drunken and overweight society, half wouldn't get out of bed in time lol

Slightly off topic, but I was wondering this whilst watching Saving Private Ryan on C4 the other night.

What are the little balloons for above the beaches?

Edit: Just googled - they are barrage balloons. K
