100,000 mile club

Yes, Its a 7.5ton HGV. It'll weigh around 4.5 tons with the camper body & various bits'n'bobs, the 7.5ton is its maximum payload. :)

i was having this discussion when he posted it. You surely won't be able to drive that on a car license will you ?

Don't you need to take medicals and stuff to get the 7.5t license ?

What car is it?
2001 Skoda Octavia VRS

What mileage are you currently on?
110k

What major parts have you replaced?
I just had to change all of the dampers and springs, and bushes to tighten it up. In the plus side it's now on coilovers and poly-bushes.

How long do you intend to keep the car for?
Probably for 18 months while I'm saving for our wedding. Then I would like a VXR8 but will probably end up going a bit more sensible and getting a Focus ST3 or something.

didn't think Bug One was that old :)

*edit* he's 32 according to his profile. so would have been able to take his test in 1997, before the change to the 7.5 tonne limit. That explains that then.

Yep. Old. :p

I took my test in just before the new one came out, so I have a nice long list of letters on my license. :)

As for size, this is what its all about. Plus, headroom. I'm 6'2 and not even close to the ceiling.

I missed out on that change by like 6 months, dam. How much does a normal HGV licence for 7.5 tons cost now

I seem to remember a trucker telling me it was 40 a year to renew.
Truck must be worth 30 or 40k ?

If you're going to buy a camper van, you can at least do it properly. And thats doing it properly, its as big inside as your average caravan.

Wow that's impressive mileage there. Is yours modded at all?

for the last two years it was running roughly 240bhp (stock is 197) now its around 280bhp, its got an uprated fuel pump, manual boost controller, K&N, Full turbo back stainless exhaust, and a remap along with an uprated intercooler

Just done a 600 mile round trip to cornwall and back and shes still fine! (except the fan has decided only to work when it wants so I had to stop a few times when the car got a bit on the warm side)

thats nothing on an S14

They were built in the era when the Japs over spec'd and over engineered everything on their performance models massively.

its the highest mileage on the original turbo anyones ever heard of though, but your right there are a fair few other 200k + s14s

I expect to join this club this year. Just under 8K to go.
