Northbridge temps

I recently found out that one of the temps on cpuid was my northbridge and is running at 80*c,its o/c to 2.4 but doesnt matter as even when it is set at stock its about the same,gets up to 84*c at times but never any higher, is this anythiing to worry about?seems high to me,i had this board a couple of years now

replace the TIM its probably all dried out.

or if you dont want to take the heat sink off point a fan at it best you can

How easy is it to remove the heatsink? it looks like its held in with 2 plastic lugs,

normally you push them down then underneath squeeze the 2 pins together and it will pop off

ok, did that no problems. applied new compound knocked a few degrees off so i might go for the spot fan
anyone know if the after market heatsinks are any good?

are you putting extra volts on the NB it should be fine with stock heat sink

yes im on +0.125, doesnt make any difference if i set it to normal

adding volts is going to make it hot.

Get a fan on it and temp will plummet

now running northbrige speed and voltage at stock, still no difference, guess ill have to go for the spot cooler, thanks for your help

Shouldn't really be running that hot.

So its either a spot fan or you need better air flow in your case

Pressure also helps reduce temps, replacing the plastic pins with some nuts, bolts & silicone washers & nipping them down fairly tightly should bring temps down a bit more.

Used one of them on an old socket A mb years ago and it worked a treat...even better with a fan on it
